Hi, has anyone had to replace their Alternator & Power Steering Belts?????

 

I did mine about 20K ago. About to do it again when I do my boost install this summer.

 

I Changed mine when i got my 96 I30 a few months ago.
It's no biggie.
Just make sure you have the right tension.
If the belts are loose, they will squeal like a stuck pig

 

Changed mine a month ago. The alternator one is a piece of cake. It took me 3 hours to change the power steering built, and a big part was finding innovative ways to loosen the power steering bolt way the hell up there on the block, holy crap. I hope I never have to do that again.

 

Power steering took almost twice as long to change when I did both a few months ago. Alternator belt isn't that hard to put on, no more than 90 degrees of deflection when it is on and tight.

 

i'm about to, just waiting for a weekend when it isn't frigid for me. I get slight squeal on cold start, so i'm sure its time or past time for them to go

 

The key is to use the factory jack on a ratchet since the area is too tight for a cheater bar.
