Last 4x 9-LED 921 hyperwhite LEDs installed!

Today I finally am done with replacing ALL of my exterior and most of the interior bulbs to LEDs. The last were: reverse light and license plate bulbs. I switched the 6-LED 194 bulbs out for bigger and brighter 9-LED 921 bulbs and the same for my reverse light. Since it is daylight right now, pics will come later.

Just a note for others who might do this:

1. The 9-LED 921 bulbs are bigger than the regular 194 bulbs in the license plate socket, and when putting everythin back together, the bulb cover WILL hit the LED. Just be careful not to crack the LED, as I heard a couple cracking sounds when I did mine.

2. The reverse light bulb socket and the taillight hole where it goes into is very fragile, be careful and don't break anything.

Pics coming tonight!

The only bulbs left in the car which are still incandescent are:

1. Map lights, LEDs will only work if you take the assembly apart and switch the wires to reverse polarity.

2. Vanity mirror lights - size 74 FYI IIRC

3. Glovebox light - no need

4. Ash tray light - no need

good job. lets see some pics as soon as possible. let me how your visibility with the back up lights are. i haven't changed mine yet because i didn't know if the LED's would provide sufficeint illumination at night. i need to have as much light when backing in my driveway at night, that way i don't crash into the house again.

OK....so while I was downloading the pics from the camera to the laptop, I accidentally deleted all of them . So I guess pics can come tomo?

But, the review on the new bulb is that unlike my focused 6-LED bulbs in the license plate before, which shot two straight lines of light down, the new ones almost COMPLETELY light up the plate now (80% lit from top down)...even with my tinted license cover

Also, the reverse LEDS in terms of useable light output is known and def less bright than the stock bulbs. But it looks cool since it is a pure white light with that hue of purple like all white LEDs. So now even when I backup, my car's exterior lights all match!

makes a world of difference...but they could be a lot bright...its just that the cover really sucks...

n3985 I'm not trying to steal your thread, but here's a pic comparing stock to LED:

I'd like to see your new license plate lighting.

Something for A32 owners to think about if you want to change your bulbs to LED...
The 32 LED bulbs are too wide for our housings. The 24 LED fits perfect, but it is not bright enough to use for back up lights, even though 6 LEDs face into the reflector.
Did anyone try the 20 LED towers for back up lights? They have the 5 LED oval face that is supposed to be bright. I'm curious if they are too tall to fit.

I've just finished retrofitting my interior also with LEDs. The only lights I haven't done are the vanity mirror lights and the map light by the sunroof controls. The dome light and the step lights have been changed. Although they produce less usuable light, it still look waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than stock. I'll take some pics tonight and post them. Next I going to do my exterior lights.

I actually like how the LED's are less bright on the interior. Less disturbing if someone needs to use the light while driving at night. Also doubles as mood-lighting

OK OK, real reason why pics are not up yet is because my gf is too lazy to stand behind my car to take them....again.

turn the key until the clock comes on, radio works, you can operate windows, but the car isn't running..., parking brake on, put in reverse, get out and take a pic.

Did you replace the lights in your gauge cluster with LEDs? If so, what size bulb did you use? I want to do the same in my I30 and I think they are the same size.

FYI, you can shift with the car in the ON possition and your foot on the brake.

Bulbs look pretty cool though.
