Got bored. painted headlamps and fogs. pics.
Got bored yesterday and figured I'd give it a go. I cleared the corners last month, so I had to rip it all apart again. I did the fogs today, but dont have any pics quite yet.
First off, sorry to those of you with dial-up like me. Pics are a bit large.
Before...(before window tint, clear corners, markers.)
After...
Close pic to see color/metal flake...
I used a gunmetal/satin with a slight metal flake and a LOT of clear coat. Hoping to find an I35 grille to match soon... still waiting for my springs to arrive (Friday or Monday)

Damn nice job with the blacked out head lights bro.
Hey n3985, can you put up a tut on how to rewire the fogs. I saw that you did them in your sig. And also does the 6000K HID fog kit you got match the factory HIDs on your low beam? I'm trying to decide on 6000K or 10000K, Thanks.

Factory low beam is 4300K, so my fog was whiter anf bluer, so I changed low beam to match.

Looks really good, but PLEASE lose the front plate. You will look a lot more clean without it. And of all things, it advertises a LEXUS dealership (nothing against Lexus).
In all seriousness, the lights look great. What brand of paint did you use- I like the color a lot, and woudl like to use something similar on the lights in my wife's silver 00 Max.

About the paint, I used 2 coats of the paint I used on my old Diamante. It's actually a honda paint code. Nighthawk Black Pearl. after that dried, I switched to 3 coats(yes,3 ) of spray paint by Dupli-Color (T177W Gunmetal). This was hideously sparkly. too much metal flake.
so to tone it down, I did one very, very sparse pass with an airbrush of this satin black I had left from high school t-shirt design. Kinda ghetto, but after bout 5 clear coats, I think it was worth it.
If you plan on mixing brands of paint like I did, wait at least an hour and a half between types of paint and at least half an hour between coats of the same paint. Imma go outside and take a pic of the fogs real quick. be back in 5.

I REALLY like the gunmetal paint with the metal flake feature... very classy. Most just use flat black which is OK, but your job looks really sharp. Definately add an I35 grill and and some springs.

Yeah, its a toasty 93 degrees here with about 70% humidity. My parents actually will be in your area in about 5 hours. They're going to Mesa Verde, climbing Mt. Yale, and then sightseeing in Denver for the next 2 weeks.

Sadly, they are American Racing rims. Nothin fancy. Purchased from Sears for about 750. Picked up tires from local Firestone dealership(225/45/18) 126 bucks a piece. transfered them off my old diamante.

It looks like you did a real good job on those headlights. Congrats on the clean install.
IMHO, the car almost looks better before because the chrome from the headlights matches the grille and wheels. Now all you need to do is black out your grille like I did, and get some new wheels, if you so wish.

Nice paint job. Very unique.
You could have painted the outside of the turn signal assembly (area just to the right of the orange lens in the pic below). Makes the signal look more finished IMO.
I think it'll look better with an I35 grill. The silver/chrome you had going originally looked very good IMO.
