50K Milestone!!!

Yesterday was bittersweet for me...my 2001 I30 crossed the 50,000 mile threshold. I'm kinda sad that I've put so many miles on it, but I suppose that's life. Anyone have any suggestions on maintenances that I should definitely do?

thats pretty damm good for a 2001 I30. I'm almost at 83,000 and its only been a year and a half since i got it; bought it used at 46K. Very sweet car!!! I just wish that i wouldnt have bought that stupid warranty from the dealership because financially from the time I bought the car till 3 months ago, i just paid that off!!!......And i never really used it! blah!!! what a waste of money

Hehe... I'm a 2000 w/ only 42.8K Only thing you MIGHT want to consider at 50K is a fuel filter and POSSIBLY a tranny fluid exchange(only if needs it; depends on how hard you drive). check out the 5th gen forum for a how-to. thats the only thing I can really think of. possibly take out your air intake and clean the throttle body as well.

Ha. Last weekend I rolled over 100k. Didn't even notice it; a friend in the backseat pointed it out.

No worries though. All 100k were my own and I know she's been well taken care of.

The maintenance needed depends on what you've done in the past.

BTW I just rolled over 100K a few months ago... where do the miles go?

Check the manual. It will have your maintaince cycle. Also, usually maintance is done at the 60k interval.

Pushin 150k and still bangin gears.

I've honestly been pretty good to her. I wouldn't consider myself an agressive driver and I definitely don't race it and she gets regular oil changes. I'll take look at the manual. Yep...I know RTFM.

I bought my 2003 I35 Sport on December 5th 2005 and it had about 3,400 miles on it. I now have 18,900 miles on it and have done lots of preventative maintenance to it only because I like to take really good care of my cars. I have to say that I am a bit disappointed with her because she pings quite a bit under acceleration and she also has a chain grinding type noise at random startups in the morning or after she has been sitting somewhere for a few hours.

After having driven a 2007 Maxima I am not even going to worry about what is happening to my I35 because I am saving up for that brand new 2007 Maxima next year.

I wonder what is causing this car to ping though. Anyone else have this problem? I took it to the dealer and they say that it is due to bad gas. If that is the case then 60 gas stations and 5 major brands better check where their premium gas is coming from or what is in it. I did a Techron treatment a few months ago and just did a second BG 44K treatment on separate gas fills to no avail. I even tried 100 octane racing fuel at $6 a gallon and still nothing!

The dealer also said that the I35 pings normally and that is pure and utter BS to me. No kind of pinging is healthy under any circumstances and I really hate sounding like a TLC tagged Lincoln Town Car most of the time.

Not sure about the pinging, but about the random startup grinding... its kinda a common problem. The starter burns out its internal lubricants fairly quickly. If you dont mind getting a lil bit of grease under your nails, here is a DIY how-to on how to lubricate your starter.

Otherwise, you can prolly replace it for pretty cheap.
