I didn't know where to put this, so please move it to its proper place if need be.

Basically from the looks of my side view mirror, I don't think I can actually replace them. This morning I came outside to find that both my side view mirrors have been broken off and hangin by wires. I have a 97 I30 and the side view mirrors are electronically adjustable.

I need to cut the wires and basically replace the busted side view mirrors with a pair of the same ones.

The question is... where can I find these, and can I myself replace them? It looks like I might have to take off the door panel just to get to the bolts to take off the busted mirrors.

Pleeeeease help me out on this, I can't afford a traffic citation!

 

Taking the interior door panels isn't that difficult. Look in the audio or 4th gen forum for directions on how to do that. If it's anything like the A33, once you remove the door panel you'll see 3 (IIRC) nuts holding the threads/bolts from the mirror onto the door. Remove those, unsnap the wiring harness from the mirror from the wiring in the door, and pull the mirror off.

Installation is just the reverse. Put mirror on, secure nuts, plug in wiring harness. (If they're broken like I think they're broken then you shouldn't have to cut any wires)

As for what mirrors to get...you should be able to get any A32 mirrors that are electronically adjustable. That means any Max or I30 mirror (that is motorized). If they're not the same color, or unpainted, you'll probably want to get them painted to match (eventually).

 

Sorry to hear about your mirrors... Take a look at the Classifieds, http://www.car-part.com/index.htm etc. They should be the same as the Maxima A32...

Get the Folding Mirrors from Ebay! You'll be happy with them and i think they worth the money

And just so you know you won't get a traffic violation. They only mirror you NEED is your rear view. Just search classifieds. They're always cars being parted out.

About the mirrors... In all honestly I don't even know why my car was attacked, nor how it was attacked. The mirrors were left on the floor, the mirrors themselves are not cracked or broken but the whole housing was just broken off the sides and the wires are just stickin out the sides of my car...

Maybe they kicked them off? Then ripped them off the wires? I have no idea... Man I wish I caught them, I don't know if I would have either broken their face or just hold one of them down as I called the cops and take them to court.

 

I don't know if that's a nation wide law or anything, but here in South Florida, it's like a $200 citation, "unless" you show them that you replaced the part or fixed the problem in other words before the citation due date, then you only pay like $20 for wasting their time to see your face lol

By the way, I'm only basing this off of my uncle's situation about 2 years ago... he didn't have a driver side view mirror and he was given a ticket.
