Tail Light not lighting up

I changed my driver's side tail light(1157). Before, the light would come on when I turned on my lights, but would'nt light up when I stepped on the brake. Now the light does not come on with the lights, but works with the brake. Anyone ever have this problem?

Yes, I have a very similar issue.

When I turn on the tail lights, all four bulbs across the tail section are lit.
But when pressing the brake, number 1 & 3 from left to right go out completely, while number 2 & 4 get brighter, as they should. Tried changing bulbs, checked everything obvious. Even tried disconnecting the spoiler third brake light, thinking it may be causing a load issue.

I'm still stumped........

Thats the way it was with mine(press the brake, number 1 & 3 from left to right go out completely, while number 2 & 4 get brighter). I'm going to try and take the pass. side bulb and putting it in the drivers side.

Just so you know, mine started out as the number 1 bulb doing that. But after I messed with it, it got worse. Now I'm like you, 2 out of 4 are going out.

Maybe I'll mess with it a little more

I had a similar problem on my old Infiniti G20. The solution was to change out the taillight bulb holder.

Okay, just noticed that left-most(#1) light is working fine now. Don't know how.

I just noticed tonight that my number 2 and 3 lights dont work when the lights are on and the brakes are pressed. They work fine when the lights are not on. I replace both bulbs and it didn't fix the problem. I noticed on of them was a little dim a few months ago and I was going to wait until it went out until I replaced it. Turns out it wasn't the bulb anyway
