2000 I30 fits what year maximas?
So I have a 2000 I30 and I'm looking for a transmission as mine is beginning to go, what years maxima will be a straight swap? From what I've read I believe it is 2000-2003 but I want to make sure. Thanks

2000 /I30 trani
Correct 2000 /2001 however the trani from nissan should fit going back to 97. The 3.5 motor is pretty much bbc.co the same on the bottom end it's the wiring where the trouble will come in on 3.5 trani. But 97 /2001 3.0 isv your margin.

The 2000 and 2001 Infiniti and Maxima used the RE4F04B transmission, assembly # 88X05 for non-LSD, RE4F04W transmission, assembly # 88X06 for LSD.
The 1999 and earlier Infiniti and Maxima uses the RE4F04A transmission, assembly # 88X17 for non-LSD, RE4F04V transmission, assembly # 88X18 for LSD.
The 2002 and later Infiniti and Maxima uses the RE4F04B transmission, assembly # 88X04 for non-LSD.
The differential gear ratio is different for 1999 and earlier. 1999 ratio is 3.619:1 while the 2000 and up is 3.789:1
The 2002 and up uses a different speedometer system, so stay away from this.
Besides the different differential gear ratio, the 1999 and earlier trans (RE4F04A) have different internal parts, the valve body and shift solenoids among others. The torque converter lock up solenoid works differently, the the TCM cannot lock the torque converter. And the wire harness hookups to the transmission are different. You can do modifications to make this transmission work in your car, but I think you will lose performance because of the differential..
Here is a link to a guy who did the reverse of what you would be doing. He put a 2001 transmission in a 1995 Maxima. He had to weld brackets and do wiring mods. You would have to do the same.

My .02 - do not get a 1999 and earlier transmission. Only get a 2000 or 2001 transmission.
