Maxus 2005!?!?!?!
Im up for this, Ive always wanted to make a cross country drive this would be a good reason to do it. Figure I will take a bunch of time off from work and show up, then go on to the other coast.

Courtesy also has a large sales base with the org, and they can make some serious money on parts this day as well. I know not everyone likes all their parts, but they can push short throw shifters and MEVIs if they're smart and stock up prior to this event whereas Trophy or some other dealerships don't even carry these products. Brian Catts has given us the thumbs up publicly that he supports the event, but the ammount of participation from him as of this point in time is still unknown due to his hectic schedule. Matt has been in contact with the other big names like JWT and Stillen, and they too have expressed interest.
Before Courtesy gives the go ahead nod, they would like to see some form of advertisement or flyer for the event. If there is anyone with good photoshop skills that wouldn;t mind volunteering for a small project, please shoot me a PM so that we can work an idea out as to what we can do.
Other than that, we are still a go. I've got a bit more time on my hands and I'll be working on this much more proactively now that it is just a few months away.

Ok, I'l ask again. Is this going to be mainly for the Maxima community or open to all who show?
Seems like with a location that has limited space, an all make and model gathering may not be ideal.

Wow I love the idea of this, I cant wait and am looking forward/planning for it.
A Sea of Maxs and Max drivers, hopefully by then I should have her nice and show worthy, and I'll make the trip.
If you can post hotel in the area, so some of us who plan on getting a room can try and book one early just to make sure there are no complications, or I think the location is still being decided on, if thats the case then when one is decided hotel listings would be great.
Cant wait, Summer 05 a Mafia of Modded Maxs, I will save up from now so I can hopefully buy some parts while there too.

As for showing at Courtesy, what they've done in the past is talk to the Holiday Inn next door and have the meets in their parking lot. There is room for about 100 cars on their back lot- especially if we mark it off ahead of time and redraw the lines on the lot to fit more cars in.
Holiday Inn always gives Courtesy great deals on hotel rates for their customers that have to stay in town overnight. I'm sure they'll give us an even better deal for this event, as they have in the past. There is also more parking available in lots of commercial buildings behind Holiday Inn if that's required.
I'm going to be posting a couple polls shortly to help determine the events- which we need to do now so we can give the sponsors a plan and schedule events.

as crazy as this sounds i think il be down to drive to this meet. i havent been to texas since i left years ago and i need a vacation. one thing i noticed is that this sounds like the h2o meet that was held in maryland some months ago for the vw, audi owners. i think that maybe we could have some events that they had at their event which helped it to be fun and intresting.
they had a multiple day thing like we r planning. like on the first day people were still coming down and they had a barbq held for the people showing up so we all came and ate then went to found our rooms in the next town over. we then just had a meet at the local hooters and hooters held a small car show and gave away prizes for the winners. on the second day, most people that were gonna drive down there had been there all night long so we went back to the same lot we had the bbq and we had this 100-200 car large competition. they had a trophy for different modles n mod levels. they also had a good amount of stuff to give away like plaques n such. one thing that i liked alot was the dyno that they had set up for us. it allowed people to dyno their cars for the first time and have some bragging rights also. and i guess that for our last day we could have just a breakfast and then people pack up and leave at their own will.
so: 1st day... people drive down n check into hotels. we have some kinda group buffet/bbq
2nd day we could have a track day and a small car show. maybe also have the dyno. we still would have food n stuff.
3rd. day breakfast and just chill until ready to leave.
i think if we set it up like this we shouldnt have any problem getting vendors and people intrested in showing up. i also wonder if i can bring some friends with me like 2-3 people that dont have maxes. we were planning on going on a road trip anyway and it owuld help get me there if i can drag them along.

Venom, that's the general idea of what we're going..
we may change orders of what happens based on on track schedules, but the main two things are:
track event- drag, auto X, or road course. (see other thread)
Judged car show/ show & shine.. not sure how we're going to do the judging on it yet, but there will need to be some sort of entry fee for the show- to cover trophies and expenses.. but we'll also have area set up for show & shine so people can just hand out and open up the cars for everyone to see if you don't wnat to compete in the show.
there will be random things raffled off/given away at the meet as well.
we're also contacting all kinds of sponsors and trying to get some booth displays set up.. SGP Racing in Houston said they'll probably show up with their 600HP Zs, and Stillen usually sends a big box of toys for giveaways. Cattman, Warpspeed, and myself have also expressed interested in a booth or something where we can lay out a few toys for display (no sales will be allowed AT the event, but I'm sure there will be a few items that may get given away or sold off-site.

There are three sticky threads in this forum, all about the event. there are details scattered throughout this thread, and when David and I get definite plans done, we'll probably just start a new thread with all of the real information.
The main reason for not selling anything at the event is legal issues. If we do that, then it's considered street vending, and then you have to pay the hotel fees for doing it on their lot, pay the city fees for selling stuff in their city, some of us would have to charge state sales tax and others wouldn't.. just makes it a royal PITA, and there's too many companies that would either come just to make money or would try to buy out the event (I've heard horror stories of certain sponsors asking for exclusive selling rights and all kinds of BS like that happening.) There's also the issue of booth fees and where that money will go to, limiting the display size, etc etc etc...
but that doesn't mean we can't take pre-orders, exchange information, and buy/ship parts after the event. That also doesn't mean we can't have a swap meet where individuals can sell their used parts or whatever. that will be discussed later, but we've done it at a couple local Z club meets with good success.

How many from Austin are going up there? I would like to caravan with you all but I live in Killeen/ Ft. Hood area. Its about 30 minutes from Temple. I could shoot to Temple and meet you all somewhere off of I-35.
