time for maxus 2006 yet????
Guys i dont know if you have ever heard of TEXAS HEAT WAVE, but it is the largest car, truck, motorcycle show in the world... IT's frigging HUGE, and lots fo fun to go to... I will be going every year, and its is around end of July.. Go here for this last July Heatwave pics./. www.texasheatwaveshow.com ... Large groups, and clubs go to this event every year, and it is a 3 day event. I entered my ride this year and got great publicity for it. I cant even describe how HUGE this event is.. Its located just near AUSTIN TX, and the parking area is ridiculas. The Scion Group got the best Group turn out. If you get it enought in advance when online tickets go on sale, then you can rent out a space with electric hook-ups and covered areas(bring yourself)-which i will be doing.. Guys i have to tell you this event WILL BLOW YOU MIND... Seriously!!! I went for all 3 days, and stayed at a hotel not to far from the fairgrounds. They even have helicopter rides so you can fly over the site and take pictures... You can bring 4-wheelers, and mopeds, and the like(mini bikes) The Audio Building is to die for... Even having Things for sale, for 1/3 or half the price, not cheap stuff.. I bought a JL Audio 500/1 Amp retail about 600, for 300... You name it they gpt it/../. Things for Sale, to Eat, and so on... Wet tea-Shirt competition, lowrider, best in show... it goes on and on and on.. I was there for 3 days and never got to see all the competitions.. The Drag - Tug-A-War was awsome... My friends Hemi tore up to competition, even pulling a huge 4x4 into the ground.... Sorry got carried away....
The real reason i say this, is that you will have a ton of stuff to do, and we could have our own section in advance if the proper channels were used thjrough the event planners... Guys This is were ALL the POPULAR MAGS GO... SEriously entertaining, and i guarentee you will love going... Check the site out, and thinkon having the next MAXUS there.... This is just a thought.... Opinions needed.... LAter guys, and sorry i missed this last one i was getting ready for THW...and i didnt have my MAX yet... I will be entering it in 2007.... 2 1/2 years to mod this puppy.... LAter..
OH BTW, here is a quick post of my truck.. ITs the Red HEMI with the functional 440 Six Pack Carbon Fiber Hood, and Grill...

i say Atlanta. from the pictures of last years maxus the turn out wasn't really big. knowing the turnouts in Fl having 30-50 enthusiasts, GA having about the same, NY having about 60-80 , and also DC, and the whole East coast being a huge group i think it should be easily driveable for these orgers. Because bottom line for these meets is u want the biggest turn out possible. Sponsoring the event is great and all, but if you have no one show up then its worthless. Living in southern Florida, Vegas is definetly out of the question. NY is pushing it, GA is perfect. pretty even for most drivers. 9 for us, 11 for NY and NJ and like 6 or so for TX. so i think we should think shear numbers for this event. Where will bring the most people and cars?

I like the GA idea! A lot of roads, a mountain area that I've heard it good for some twistie roads. Good place, good food, good sights.
for atlanta.
i've missed the 05 maxus due to a summer internship. i am mos def going to the next one if it's either in dallas, houston, or atlanta.
as for sponsorships, dallas has the most soundy organization so far, unless someone else can come up with a promising structured meet, we should just stick with dallas's trophy nissan's event.
if you guys don't think this is big, or fun enough because everyone's just jerking at each others' maximas, i'm a direct affiliate with the importfaceoff's director/president.
www.importfaceoff.com
they have sponsored automotive-related activities monthly from cities to cities. they have been reallly successful in getting everyone around and have all kinds of nice things to do at the show: bikini contests, midget wrestling, burnout contests, drag contests, road course contests, crank up sound contests, and show-off your cars. Each car event has at least 3-5000 attendants so far/unless rained out on the event. lot's of girls attended, too, so that'll knock out our sausage-fest MAXUS.
This importfaceoff organization is stationed at Baton Rouge, LA. Their out reach is as far east as atlanta, as far west as san antonio, and as far north as oklahoma city and even once in st Louis. If we are to do one again at Dallas or houston, I can prolly arrange a joint work task with Matt to get this thing running for 06 Maxus.
How does that sound to everyone???

Do you really think midget wrestling and nekkid ****** are what we want at a car show?
I'm all for getting some extra publicity, but not at the expense of turning it into HIN ricer-fest. That's not who we are. the stupid crap that showed up at Maxus '05 was done by the dealership, and they weren't too happy when they figured out what it was either. the guy with the boat and crap was sponsored by nissan corporate and is required to show up with his truck at so many events to keep the goodies... So it was an easy one for hime to run it through a car wash and show up for a couple hours.
As for Track events, I can schedule that. BBQ, I can handle that. bikini contest- we can fly igor, Sprinty, Jeff, Shawny, Calder, etc in to compete in that. midget wrestling-- instead, let's bring Bijan in and we can all pay a buck for a sucker punch.
If you guys want me to plan the event again this year, it's going to be in either Dallas, Tulsa, or Houston. I can handle the arrangements there. All of the tracks that were in the area were closed the weekend we had Maxus '05. we just got screwed there. This year, I'll be sure to set the date around the track events. there will be road course, drag racing, and a dyno event.. I've done all the footwork already and only have to make a few phone calls.
If you want it somewhere else, you're on your own. It took me months to get all of the contact information for the last event, and I don't want to throw that 2" thick pile of notes and contacts away.

I'm all for Texas. The weather is not too cold or unpredictable( A typical midwest problem) , and its relatively free of traffic( again, another Midwest problem , including A-town. )
Besides, Texas is a good road trip for everyone!

Where did the midgets come into this.. i must have missed something... The reason i brought up the Texas Heat Wave Event, is a way to get noticed by the crowds and the public eye (MAG's)... Plus people dont like to go to events that they do not how the turn out will be... This event is one of ALL Events... Seriously.. Ask others that have been... Are there any here? It was only a suggestion, hopefully one that will get some attention.. Going to this event, there are so many activities it's ridiculus... Also to let you know there are no nekkid girls there, almost nekkid, but this is a family event, the late night events are for adults, but they are not risque...as in nude...

you are right, matt. this is not a ricer-fest like those typicals. i'm sorry for bringing it up. i was just trying to help generating some fun because guys who went to 05 came back and told me that it was a sausage fest and a whole bunch of jerking off at each others maxima's, moreover, some vendors are a little hostile sometimes. but, there are good things heard, too. it's a pretty fun event overall. also, track fees are a little high, too. nothing wrong with that, for the amount of activites generated, it's a very classic event for us anti-ricers. come to think of it, i don't want a ricer-fest either.
i sure don't know how much work you've done for months pulling an event like this, so i have no say in this. however, if you like to get connected with my guys here to discuss possible extra activities, we can help. importfaceoff events are riced because it needed to, the director isn't at all a ricer. he's ran it like this because it's a business. anyways, enough said. i hope for this event to be morely in houston than dallas. that's my call.
we should set a poll with all the possible (sponsorable) cities and have a vote at it. i vote houston or dallas...
Just a quick question here...
do you go to a national car meet to look at cheap ****** or cars?
if you don't want a sausage fest, then don't come alone. I brought my wife.
track fees were high because the road course event was for FOUR HOURS of track time. usually you only get one hour per day for similar pricing. The closer track that I wanted to go to was significantly less money, but only provided ~1hr track time- BUT they were closed for the weekend. same thing with the local drag strip. it just happened to be the date that we had picked more than a year before and locked into place.
this time, I'm going to schedule the date of the events around the dates the tracks are open. depending on whether it's in dallas or houston, we have some of the fastest dragstrips in the country and road courses within an hour of each city.
there are lots of other things to do in both places as well, but someone else can plan that stuff. I could care less about titty bars, bikini contests, or midget wrestling.

I think Atlanta would be a reasonable location. You have a HUGE concentration of Max owners in NJ/NYC/PA, and hosting it in Atlanta would make it accessable to both them and Floridians.
In any event, I think it should be hosted somewhere that would be condusive to attracting East Coast members...East Coast Maxes are in far greater number than West Coast Maxes.
Oh, and Matt - good call on the s.fest. I will be bringing my g/f / fiancee (depending on when it is hosted.

Soooo, it's likely going to be just after school gets out... I'm thinking mid- May right now.

Since im not from Texas was that weekend normal June weather or was it cooler than usual?
IMO Id like to keep it in early June or late May if possible. Also it would be nice to get some more NE peeps to show, but that would take a damn miracle...

Wow, I didn't even know anything about Maxus until now!!! I would definitely consider coming if I can save up enough $$.
Personally I'd love Dallas because I plan on finishing my schooling there in a few years so I want to see the city, plus I only have to take practically one highway all the way from my town to get there (only 1300 miles, lol!). Hopefully I'd have my car dropped around then too!
I hope I can make it...I'm not sure how realistic I'm being since its so far, but I'm going to keep this in mind. I'd definitely be interested in Chicago too since its closer to me and I could easily make it there.

How are you doing? I loved the paint on the 4th gen when i saw it at the NICO nationals
I'm thinkin Dallas would be a great place for another meet. I would've made the last Maxus but that VG tranny wasn't in yet.
We had sponsorship and Matt had a couple of strings pulled. We could have it here or there but the main thing the sponsors are lookin at is how is this gonna benefit them plus the weather is also somethin to consider as the Northeast weather is really unstable around the flip of the seasons as Dallas' is more on a stable chart. I'm willin to drive 1600 miles. Especially since I should be the owner of a VQ35 in a few.

I think somewhere on the east coast (mainly ATL and up) woud be great because their is always a load of events out west and even a few in the Mid as well as deep down south. Somewhere on the Mid to upper east coast would be great as it would help to promote the automotive presence on the east coast.
