Volk CE28N T/A E39 M5

Well i picked up the rims last week, and had to wait for a 10mm spacer to come in for the back. 10.5 + 25 is too high of an offset in the rear lol!

Anyways they're 19x8.5 +10 with 245/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 and in the back 19x10.5 + 15 with 275/30/19 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2.

I honestly never saw myself dropping 4K on wheels/tires but you gotta pay to play, i always wanted them for the maxima, but at the time dropping 2K on wheels/tires seemed rediculous on a car worth 5 grand.

Anyways here are the pictures. I love the look of the car now, wayy more sportier, i have since painted the kidney grilles black, and i will be ordering the carbon fiber splitter in the front and diffuser in the back, once i install my Tubi style exhaust.

The car drives way better with lighter wheels too, the stock rims in the back are like 19x9.5 forged 25.6lbs and the fronts at 18x8 are 23.6 while my chromies were 20x8.5 front 27lbs and 20x10 in the rear at 30lbs. I think these volks are around 18.5lbs in the front and 20.6lbs in the rear i cant find where i found the weights but i know there lighter than the TE37.

Sorry for the crappy pics guys, my camera doesnt take good pictures in poor light, and i dont have insurence on the car because an unamed company screwed up my reflash and now i am waiting to have it flashed back to stock so i can smog it and put insurence on it.

Oh and yes i will be lowering the fronts. The rears have less than 1 finger gap in the back already, but due to my driveway it sits funny. I am deciding between either the Dinan JRZ stage 1 upgrade of the Dinan Stage 1 Koni yellows.

Looks like you got a flat tire. I love the alpine white M5's.

Hehe, Yeah thats my driveway. For the longest time, i kept thinking my front right tire was low. The pressures were a little low on all 4, set them back to 38F 44R.

Anyways, Ive decided on the Dinan Stage 1 with Koni Yellows. I dont believe it lowers the rear at all, just the front. I am contemplating the stage 2 because it includes upgraded front and rear sway bars, strut bar and the springs/struts.

More mods are definately coming, but for now i will be keeping it mostly stock. My significant other made me promise i wouldnt do too much to this car, but i dont really care haha.

Anyways, so far i only have Intake, ecu reflash (ESS tuning), Tubi style Exhaust, mkiv navigation, 16:9 screen, 01 + dash.

Upcoming: Rogue engineering X-Pipe, Supersprint headers, Dinan Throttle bodies + Velocity stacks, and definately either the Stoptech BBK or the brembo if i can find it used!

I basically want to get this thing to a Dinan S2 M5, they are suppose to put out 470HP at the crank, and most dyno about 400WHP/390WTQ.

The only thing im not sure on is to either do the intake/headers/xpipe, and skip the dinan throttlebodies + velocity stacks and get the ESS VT570 supercharger.

Puts down about 500whp

Maybe it's just the lighting or something. I like the spoke design of them, but I am not really feeling the red stripe.
Nice car.... any interior shots so far?
And are you missing your maxima as much as you thought you would?

Yeah, the car has no ECU right now, so i cant take any new pictures. Yeah there was another thread i have some pictures on my flickr account.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/39043014@N07/3754518142/

If you scroll through there, there are some pictures of the interior and the old wheels.

Do i miss my maxima? Yes and no. I recently drove my buddies 5spd maxima which he just converted and it has that "beat the **** out of it" factor that i dont really feel in the M5. The maxima seems like you need to push it to its extreme limits to get going fast, where as the M5 it just effortleslly goes anywhere. In my maxima i use to drive around in 3rd gear and have the revs around 2500rpm to have decent mileage but still have the power to move around, in the M5, i can do the same in 5th gear at 1200rpm.

These things dyno like 310WTQ at 2000RPM and goes up to like 330WTQ till about 5000RPM where it starts on the decline.

Its insane, the torque, its always what i felt i was missing with the maxima, the M5 is just way more fun, even on stock suspension, it handles WAYYY better than my maxima ever did, and i had pretty much every suspension mod minus LTB stg 2. Poly bushings, LTB, coilovers, sway bar, strut bar, sticky tires, lightweight rims, it handled flat, and while the M5 isnt as flat around corners, it just feels like it has more grip no matter what. Even with its hefty curb weight it does not feel like a 4000lb vehicle.

I was driving my moms 02 maxima, which is pretty much stock only has strut bar and rear sway bar, and man that thing is down right scary. It only has like 65K miles, and there is this one corner its a long right turn. In the m5 i hit that corner at about 140kmh, and it felt good, in my maxima, i would hit it at 120kmh but i just couldnt accelerate hard out of corners, with the M5, i can get HARD on the throttle even in the corner and still pull out.

All in all, i guess thats the difference between a 30K car and a 90K car. Well when new, i know the M5's up here are about 104K right now, no clue what the E39 was when new, id imagine pretty close to the same.
