When I miss my son, I detail his car.
Wash, Claybar, Cleaner Wax, and Sealer... Nothing but Mother's of course.
Chilling in the shade.
My favorite shot
Can't wait for my son to come back home so we can go out for a cruise.
Sorry didn't mean to get all sentimental and all.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate all the kind words.
Yes, its a 1985 3rd gen RWD, and around here there just as rare on the streets and in the salage yards too. He bought it when he was 16, while looking for an ae86 six years ago. His plan was to build this into a drifter, but over the years he's realized how rare a car in this condition actually is( At least on the east coast) and will leave this one as is. I did say the car is all original but I forgot we did a 5spd conversion on it years ago. He's in Okinawa now, we haven't seen him in the flesh in 18 months. Yeah, there's AIM and Skype but that's not the same as a face to face convo. He's got his ae86 now and is compiling a ton of parts to build an 86 drift car when he gets home. That may be as soon as October, if he doesn't extend his time there.
He love Okinawa and the car culture there, it's a very different car world. He told me about one night he hit a curb and bent an axle shaft. some locals stopped to help. One of them went home and got an axle shaft from his ae86 and they all fixed it on the side of the road at 2 in the morning. An hour later one of them hands him a phone, a female on the other end speaking broken english tells him that her friends didn't know how to say in English that they had to work in the morning and had to leave. They didn't want to just leave without saying why. That was the moment he fell in love with the locals and the car culture. He says it'll be a bitter sweet moment when he has to leave.

theres always at least a dozen 3rd gens at the junkyard here, almost always in good shape. one didnt even have a single scratch on it, just sad that theyre all there and i can only find 1 or 2 for sale locally
AE86 in LHD version are hard to find here as well, ive only seen a few. otherwise its RHD imported ones with a ton of work done on them.
is he going to import the one from Okinawa or just get a new one here? i remember the whole story about how a guy in the US military bought a FD RX7 in Japan, and his dad used kit car laws to bring it in and legally register it

For some reason the 3rd gens are scarse on the east coast especially the coupes, but seem to be a dime a dozen on the west coast and Canada.
Military will transport up to 2400lbs of his stuf for free, and this 22 yr old is taking full advantange of that. The military wont ship whole vehicles or engines. So he has to disassemble his TT 1jz and 4ag motors for transport. I've looked into the "kit car loop hole" but the feds have gotten wise to that, and it's much harder to do. He'll buy a car here and install all his upgrades. Possible projects are a Cressida for the 1jz and an AE86 for the 4ag and upgrades.
