Great ending to this story. I'm kind of surprised BMW didn't offer you something extra in exchange for you keeping your mouth shut about it. That's a pretty serious issue for a brand new, 70,000 dollar car. I give you a lot of credit for going to other forums and making people aware of an issue like this. Some people wouldn't have taken the time to do that. That was the right thing to do.

Seriously though, you got your car fixed AND you're getting a brand new M3 in two months in exchange for the one you have now. That's pretty awesome.

I would definately get a lawyer involved it is not safe to be driving that car. Do not pick the car up until you are 100% sure its fixed. Also on a side note I wouldn't call bmw techs greese monkeys if you knew the training technitions go through you would not say that. Dealership techs are nothing like your local pepboys mechanic. Its a whole different ballgame.

Yea man, this doesn't only apply to BMW , any car maker would do this and try to stick you with a defective car, just make sure you stick to your guns and keep at them if its a serious issue, soon or later they will have to budge and give you what you deserve.

I absolutely love E92 M3s, but sorry to hear the issues you had with yours. My friend is a BMW tech and swayed me away from the new 335s with all the issues they are having. Glad to hear that you are getting it taken care of though.

sorry to hear the struggle you went through with your E92. once i started to read this i figured it would have been the steering rack or the column or if not then the CAS (Car Access System which is the module thats connected to the slot for your key fob to start the car.) as for the lights coming up on the dash could have also mean a wheel bearing going bad, steering angle sensor (SZL) or a high voltage drain relating to your battery and alternator. now for the NAV screen going out, could be a bad CCC or CIC whichever your car came with or if not then its a programming issue. and if your wondering how i know is cuz i work for BMW and own one too. now that the regional rep found the problem makes me wonder that car might have been in an accident before you bought it. there is an SIB out for BMW's that have had front end collision and states to replace steering rack only if it has front end collision or maybe it was just defective. believe me sometimes i'll get bmw's with concerns that just has me in an awe. i would scan these cars and i would not get any fault codes at all so from there i would have to get permission from the customer to drive the car until i can duplicate the problem and it'll happen but not more than others. i once had an E93 M3 convertible with a charging problem and i could not for the life of me figure out why the date and time would reset each time i would start the car after it would go into sleep mode for 16 min. kept the car for nearly 3 weeks until i finally found the voltage draw which turned out to be the damn battery. but its good that you stepped up and got a new car out of it cuz for the amount of money that you paid i would do the same. glad that everything worked out for you brother and keep track of the car being shipped over here. usually it takes less than 2 months to get here state side. i ordered mine at the end of Feb. and got at the end of March. kept track online before it was built but was already issued a VIN so that i can purchase my insurance policy and then 1 week to build the whole car and then another week to have it shipped over to the states which will always arrive in Greenville, SC. and then have it QC'ed and then either pick it up at Greenville and stay for the BMW ultimate driving school class and test drive either your own car or one just like it on the ring or just have it shipped to you. if it were me, i would rather fly out to Greenville, SC and pick up the car myself and stay to test drive at their performance track and then drive it home from there.
