It is not about just the looks of a wheel but its strength and weight, etc. Take a look at this video

Companies that make knock-offs products are the one that hurt the tuning industry. Like I said i personally will never support a company that took somebody else's idea, made a copy, and then sells it to make profit. And those knock-off companies will never make a product identical to the real version.
yep i feel the same way. I refuse to support a company that stole someone else's idea and makes a living off of it (with a couple exceptions i have in the past). people think wheels are all about looks. since you mentioned safety, Rays wheels go as far as exceeding JWL standards and are JWL+R (rays in house testing). all this costs money and like everything else in life, you get what u pay for.

they do hurt original manufacturer. remember when SSR wheels went out of business because everyone decided to run knock off SSR's? for every original stillen FSTB you see on this board, how many fleabay knock offs are there?

To those who are interested, read this article. It has alot of good points about why individuals should not support knock-off companies and what happens to the original manufacturer.

i wont read that because the original manufacturers are not supporting my wallet. so i'll buy what I please. i'm not going to knock the next man for rocking the real deal, just like i'm not going to knock the next man for rocking knock offs. its personal preference. let people buy what they want to buy. its not that serious

So you say it is not serious when the original manufacturer stops producing parts because companies make knock-off parts that people buy instead? I think it is serious because people are supporting companies that do not do any R&D and just copy other companies.

Directly from the article.

"Do people care yet? Probably not…Will people care the next time Voltex needs to look at the costs to decide if they want to produce an Aero hood for their next car and conclude that its not worth it? Probably still not. Will people care when there are almost no new products coming out with proper R&D because no company can find a way to make their money back? Yeah…probably then people will care…but it wont matter because by that point it’ll be too late to say we’re sorry and turn back the clock."

IJS!!!!! read and succeed. yea its bad that they may go out of business, but like i said they are not supporting my wallet. do i appreciate their R&D? hell yea, but there are companies that offer cheaper solutions OBX in comparison to Cattman (not knocking cattman because i am in absolute love w/ my axleback). will i miss the companies that put in teh R&D? probably not, because i'm personally not the one to be caught up in names. it is what it is. if you want to support that company, its all fine and dandy, but dont enforce something, thats not in my budget, and knock my hustle because i, or any other person who modifies their car, got a knock off. IMO its childish. the company ISNT yours, and to the companies that ARE affected, i'm sorry about your bad luck. but thats how the world runs...originals, then knockoffs.

Idk, you need to go lower. Your tires are stretched but looks odd having such a stretch with some gap still.

too much strech and you lose sidewall height. should've gone with a higher aspect ratio. you need another 2" in the rear but IIRC the rear coils barely had an inch worth of a drop left in them

The fake wheel debate is beating a dead horse. What bothers me is the tons of animosity people have for each other because of the decision they made to buy the replica. There is a huge market of enthusiasts where their wheels will not endure the abuse that forged high dollar wheels are engineered for. Replica's, sure, have skimped out on the construction of the wheel. BUT, there are plenty of testimonials littered on the web of people running Rota's and Varrosten's with having no problem with cracked wheels.

But, think of it, if your car will never see the track. You just drive aggressive here and there on the highway and side streets. A replica is a perfect choice, the weight different is marginal. Now, the ethical debate of Rota biting into other manufacturer's sales... that's a whole new topic.

That's economics. It's the constant "WalMart-ing" of our society. You can't stop it, what it comes down to is if it pleases you, rock the **** out of it, and if it doesn't, pay the money and enjoy your car for God's sake - if I see Rotas on someone elses car, it ain't my problem.

(...and I'm looking at a set of XXRs... )

LOL, yea because those 521s are the shiet!! but its also a reason why i'm trying to stay away from them because everyone on the forum has them...nobody has purple G35s though hence why i did it. hopefully when i'm ready to buy wheels i'll have a wheel that nobody in the MAXIMA community is rocking
