Hey guys,
I was wondering at what RPM your 2k2 Maximas with automatics transmission run at when you are guying 75 miles an hour on flat road(4th gear of course). Thanks.

 

From what I can recall, its between 2500-2750rpm

 

i'm at about 2700 at that speed (cruising, not coasting). 2900 at 80, about 2500 at 70.

 

2750 on the dot. 70 is 2500 even. 100 is about 3400

 

2900 @ 80, 3200@90

 

I can only give these numbers:

2002 GLE auto: 80 MPH @ 2800 RPM 3.5 engine
2002 SE 5-sp: 80 MPH @ 3200 RPM 3.0 engine

The 2002 revs lower.. you think it would get better highway mileage (with lockup converter) but it doesn't.

 

I thought my 2k2 had a 6 speed ???, and I know its around 2800 @ 80 in 6th....

meant to compare my 2002 to my 2000.
So, restated the numbers are:

2000 with 5-speed: 80MPH 3200 RPM 5th gear
2002 with 4sp auto: 80MPH 2800 RPM 4th gear (locked TC)

I'm really just commenting that the auto's top gear ratio is lower than the 5-speed's top gear.. but we have to take into account that there is a bigger engine in 2002 as well.

Based on your comment, I guess 4th in the auto is the same final drive ratio as the 6th gear in the manual? Again, just casual observations.
