can you fit 215-60-15 on a gxe wheel?
The stock (steel) GXEe rims are 15X6 rims where as the GLEX/SE Rims are 15X6.5 . My guess is that going wider on a 15X6 rim will not help since it will reduce the footprint of the tire. On the steelies - you are probably better off staying with the 205/65's.
Just my $0.02 + tax.

i have 215/60 15 on the GLE rims which came with 205/65's and they're fine... they're a huge improvement over my old tires, but my old tires were crap.
Also, i fail to see how a 215/60 would have a smaller footprint then a 205/65... I don't know exactly, but my eyeball tells me I have a bigger foorprint with the 215's...
Oh, i don't have time to now, but when I was buying tires i did a quick search and found plenty of info on this topic

215/60's are fine. If you happen to look in your manual, it should have a tire chart in there where it lists the tire sizes that are recommended for the car. It also lists the "offsets" , too, which is also safe. I've been running 215/60's on my GXE for years and never had a problem. In fact, I get better tread wear than the stock size 205/65!
