When you changed the tranny fluid did you replace the gaskets or just replace them? Also, did you have any problems with the fluid leaking out?

Thanks

imo use either redline fluid or nissan tranny fluid.. i was taught not to use any other MT fluid asides from the factory stuff by my auto instructor. as far as replacing gaskets, i'm not sure how nissan manual tranny's work but if there's a crush ring or any washer on the drain plug, then change that, and to my knowledge that's all that needs to be replaced.

mt-90 is redline. There is no gasket to replace.

I actually didn't mean to say gasket, but meant to say washer..my bad, it's still early and i'm not thinking straight. So do I need to replace that washer? I only have 3000 miles on my transmission (replaced tranny)

Since the washer isn't crushable and I replaced my tranny fluid at 2500 miles, I saw no reason to change them. I had replacements on hand, but the old ones looked so good, I just put them back on. The fluid will leak out when its full, thats how you know when to stop filling the tranny. There should be no leaks once everything is back on given everything is tightened to spec.

I change my own oil and unless the washer looks damaged, ie. nicks in the surface, I don't chage it. 3 cars it the last 10yrs. 1 washer replaced. With the tranny I changed the fluid twice and checked the level several times in my 99' with out the replacing the crush washer. And I've already changed it in my 02'. No leaks what so ever. All I use is MT-90.

i like to repace parts that are cheap if possible for an added sense of security.

Quick question for you MT-90 people...other than the improved lubricating benfits, are there any discernable changes to the shift action after changing to this fluid? I have known some people over the years with different makes/models of cars and there were mixed impressions. Not sure about it in a Max.

Thanks!

I have found the shifts to be much smoother with MT-90. In both cars I've used it in putting the car into 1st. and shifting from 1st to 2nd was sticky prior to the change. After you can shift all gears with 1 finger.
