Oil Change Procedure Question

Hi,

I drained out all of the oil and removed the filter. I want to pour some clean oil down there to clean out the engine. If I pour it in at this point, will the oil drain out where the filter goes or will it come out from the drain pan?

Thanks,
Matt

I sure hope it comes out of the lowest point in the vehicle, which would be the oil pan......

Hmm, never tried that, but my first assumption would be it will come out the drain pan, and not the filter.

Oil will come out of the drain pan. Filter is feed by oil pump so engine would to be running for the oil to come out where the filter is located.
Be well!!!!

If it will make you feel better, put the new filter on before you pour that quart of oil in. But the oil should come right through and out the drain plug.

Clean it out good!!

Why don't you pour about a pint of gas down there..that should do the trick.
