I have a 1996 GXE and there is this one particular piece of railroad that I cross and when I hit the track(going around50-60mph) my car pulls to one side(passenger side). I have been researching this and haven't came up with a reasonable explanation why this is happening. I thought it could have been my control arm bushing,tie-rods,or wheel bearings. What do you guys think? I have my CV axles changed this year I am thinking about taking it to a shop and see if the guy tightened everything within specs.

 

Thats funny, there's a RR track that crosses a highway by me. It's not in the best shape either. Hit that sucker at 50+ MPH and the rear jumps out to the right every time.

Why does this happen? Take a look under your car, it's called a REAR BEAM SUSPENSION.

Our BMW 330i stays perfectly straight. So did my old Honda Prelude SI with 4 wheel double wishbone suspension. Nothing ever made that car lose track.

 

So the Rear Beam Suspension will cause the front to react this way also?

 

It's not really the front reacting, you have to steer the car back into a straight line. Only the front steers If your rear jumps out a bit, the only way to correct your straightline is by adjusting your front wheels. Make sense?

Pay close attention to it the next time you hit that famous spot and see what part of your car really jumps from the impact. I bet you'll feel the rear kick out, then you have to steer slightly to correct it.
