Anything I need to do before installing 18's

Is there anything I need to do to install 18's... i'm goin' from 15's to 18's.. i have no suspension mods.. no springs/struts/fstb... i'm just gettin' 18's.. do i need to do anything before installing it.. i heard an alignment might be good if i add the 18's.. anyhting i need to do.. i might also paint my calipers if i install the 18's... but i'm curious.. and i would like my tires in good condition and my ride nice.. thanx to all!

Well how wide are the 18"s? Anything under 8.5" and you should be fine.

Looks like I am going to have to stick to the off road look. Silly town I live in loves road-side rain gutters, I barely clear them with just a body kit on

Well, actually I don't have enough money to get springs and/or struts... so i'm gonna have to go with that 4x4 look also.. but.. but.. from what i saw on blaxxxima (Mike).. his car looks great with 18's not lowered.. he has a black max.. jus like me with 18's.. and it looks great... i am hoping not to get springs/struts until i have more money... but mike's 18's looks good.. it even looks like it was lowered from the side view on the grass.. i am jus lookin' for an alignmnet... and painted calipers.. but not sure what else is needed.. i'm not even sure if i need an alignment.. haven't had one since i got the car... 2001 of april.. 97 max gle.. any suggestions what i should do?!

If the car doesn't pull, than you probably don't need one. But it's only $50, so for piece of mind, you might want to get one.

just take of the 15's and put on the 18's. no need for an alignment unless you feel the car pulling/uneven tire wear/etc. but, depending on how old your max is or how long it's been since your last alignment, you may wanna get it checked out.

yeah.. i'm gonna get the alignment.. and at the same time.. let them put the wheels on for me.. it would be faster..

I wanted to know if there is anyone with 18' wheels not lowered out there.. i know (Mike) Blaxxxima has 18's not lowered and it looks pretty good... not noticable wheel gap.. i hope mine will be the same...

I am just msg me in like a week or so. I plan on staying stock as well just because of the high curves in my area.

That general rule of thumb doesnt always work that if its pulling u need a alignment. Example: I got some new 16s with new rubber and then a month later lowered it. Well the guy that lowered it was like make sure you get it aligned. However, it didnt pull and I wanted to get it done but my dad insisted it wasnt nessary. Sure enough a few monthes later they pull my front tires off and the inside of the tire was worn to the belt/metal of the tire for about 2 inches. It hadnt poped yet. Turned out my dad bought me 2 new tires cause it was his fault.

Finality: what brand of rims are you gettin' and what are your tire sizes.. my 18x7.5 tantrums should come in a week from today hopefully.. i'm gettin' ecsta supra 712 225/40/18... maybe some pics will help me to see what 18's look like without a drop...

lightboy: I will most likely get an alignment anywyas just incase.. rather be safe then sorry... only 50$ anyways...

mnurse3139: Eibachs are nice.. how far is the drop.. and how long is a while...

ereet: "Hubcentric rings? Tuner Lugnuts?" confused...

thanx...

Rims are already on TSW Revos 18X8 with 235/40 for the rubberPics w/o body kit. The kit made a big difference I really dont need a drop anymore thought it would look *SO MUCH BETTER* with one.

I was orignally planning on cutting maxspeeds paired with kybs I even have it all in my room but I took my roommate around to places where I normally take the car on Sunday and he drove it in those spots while I observed. Basically I clear 70% of those places with about 1 cm to spare. Basically I would need a new paint job every 2 weeks
