I can't seem to program my homelink to open my garage door...l Nissan and "homeLink" are giving me the run-around... Nissan blames HomeLink, HomeLink blames the garage door company.... anyone else having problems???

Spud - no troubles here. There is a plastic card that comes with the owner's manual that describes the setup perfectly.

YOu're in Columbus aren't you. Let me know if you need help.

i tried to make mine work for about 2 hours at my parents house, seriously. i ran back and forth hit the button on the garage motor then push the other button. i gave up, the rolling codes defeated me. im actually quite bitter but i moved into an apartment that has an access code pad and i held the button down while it transmitted to the fence and now i dont have to stop and type in the code.

It took me forever to figure out, but it works and it is awesome. i had to push the button on the back of the garage door opener, THEN follow the directions on the card.

i managed to program mine ok, but the signal that's emitted must be hella weak. i gave my girlfriend my actual remote and she can hit the button from around the corner and the gate's almost totally open by the time she reaches it. with my homelink, i need to creep up to within 6 feet of the gate for it to start. but hey.. it works

Same here...except I have a genie opener. It took a few tries before it worked, but I got it. I've been extremely happy with it.

Mine works, had to have my brother press the button on the back of the opener while I help down the homelink buttons. Took 2 people to do it, but it works.

The programming instructions in the manual aren't that clear.

Works Great!!!!

I just bought our new home here in Charleston SC, and bought a Genie Screw drive with the rolling code or whatever.

It did take a bit of READING the INSTRUCTIONS....especially the ones from Genie, it described exactly how to do it....

.......push the "code" button on your garage motor unit, then hold down the homelink button until it flashes....then do some other stuff, and BAM its done.....sorry im at the office and dont have the exact instruction manual with me.

There is a downloadable step by step instruction manual above.

Did you remember to put the key in the ignition and turn it to the accessory switch? I forgot to do this at first when I tried.

I never got the garage to work on my old expedition...when I got the max, i decided to try it again and realized I wasn't using the "LEARN" button on the opener itself to set the rolling codes in the homelink...finally got them all to work...entry gate and garage door all have good range. I think your range problem is in the receiver itself or antenna, not the sender...

Perhaps try ersaing everything (per instructions) and starting from scratch. Got to follow them TO THE LETTER...

Sears/Rolling-Codes - Works Great

There are additional instructions in the owners manual if you have rolling-codes. Once followed, everything works great!!!

Why are you running back and forth, I though you just need the remote? I did mine and it works great, works down the street too.

Patience

My dad had this home link in his house in Fl. It was frustrating at first but as long as you take your time and follow the directions to a T it should work. It took me over several trys but I finaly got it. I think having the accessories on will help for what ever reason. Good luck well worth it once you get it.

Well with out knowing what type or model number you have you may very well have one that has rolling codes. You need to look around the unit, take off any light covers or panels, and look for a button or any model info. If you can find out who made it and model# then you can look up it's instructions on the web.

I have programed my 2 Genie screw drive units, with rolling codes, by myself on two cars with HomeLink. The 1st time took a couple of tries but I got it. You do need to follow the instructions to a T.

Like someone else said try clearing the unit by turning your ignition to ACC then hold the 2 outside buttons down for 20 seconds until the light flashes. Then while holding the opener remote very close to the visor buttons press the HomeLink button you wish to use and the remote button at the same time and hold them down until the light flashes rapidly. It will start flashing slowly keep the buttons held down until it flashes rapidly then release them. If after this is done if the HomeLink button still doesn't open and close your door then you probibly have an opener that has rolling codes. Then you will need to push the button on the opener unit itself and within 30 seconds press and release the button on the HomeLink repeatedly until the door opens.

As a last resort you could go to HomeDepot and by a new opener.

I have programmed homelinks to my rolling code garage before, but for some reason my Max took more tries? Anyways, I got it to work, then suddenly one day it deprogrammed on of the doors. The other one worked though. So I reprogrammed it, and is hasn't happened since. Anybody else had that happen?

Did you try...

this may sound stupid, but did you try replacing the battery in the hand held opener so that you might get a stronger signal for programming your HomeLink. I just programmed mine on my new place and it worked the first time no problem. Good luck

I bought my 2k2 in Oct/01 and was not able to program from day-one. I tried w/ a friend twice. I even went to dealer. They said that all they needed was the garage-door opener remote and they'd hook me up... wrong! I gave up on it.

I think I'm gonna use the info I got from this thread and try ONE-MORE-TIME...

read the instructions very carefully and don't rush, because you'll only get more fustrated.

one thing to note, even if you are doing all the steps properly and it still doesn't work, have no fear. some are just not compatible due to the frequencies, etc.

Mine one day "forgot" the gate code for my parents' front gate. Weird...retaught it and it's been fine. I don't know either...
