Should I remove my Aluminium Dash Kit? Pics Inside

I think the aluminium is too flashy for me and doesn't go well with my tan interior. Keep it or not?

Wood would look better. On a side note, my aluminum dash kit has been installed since July and it is already peeling, so I am going to be removing it soon as well.
Good luck,
Dan

I would agree with everyone here. Chrome usually looks a lot better with darker colors such as black. When you peel it off, while the sticky stuff be hard to remove or does it come along with it? Good luck

I used to have the aluminum trim......i LOVE the stock look over it now though and would never go back.

(I would give you that smile face with the little wave sign, but this computer is soooo anti-ad/firewall'd that I cant bring up the smilies window...LOL)

I say change to wood grain dash kit or try trading with somebody with their stock ones. It's a SOB to remove them, especially the sticky residue leftover.

hey i have the same kit and on my interior... but my interior is black and tan... i have all the aluminum trim... even on the guages and a chrome shift ****... and a silver racing tack with all phantom gauges on a-pillar as well... i think it looks good... but that's just my opinion... besides... it's more unique... why do wood when everyone else has it? but i am just into being different anyways...

Well IMHO, that "aluminum" dash is kinda ghetto. It just looks fake. If i were you, id go the route im going, since i too have a tan interior, im going with a carbon fiber AND true aluminum accents (shift ****, cd player) i think it will be a good. Just have to get my hands on a Carbon Fiber Dash Kit for a reasonable price...

Wood just doesnt look sporty...

I think I'm going to pull it off and let it go for cheap.

When you remove it, you will most likely destroy some of the pieces. Plus the 3M tape isn't reusable, so the person who buys it is going to have to get creative in installing it. So trading it may be a better option.

It ain't easy at all. I just spent 3 days removing my wood kit that was on the car when I bout it last month. Even with a hair dryer, it leaves gobbs of adhesive behind. A real PITA! I decided to wet sand and paint. I'm much happier now.

the person who bought it could just remove the old tape and put some new 3m tape on it right?

i have that same kit and it looks great in black but with your color interior, i would go with the chrome (thebigsadler's interior) or back to wood...not aluminum though, not crazy bad but not that good.

You can do that, but the tape is almost impossible to get off without damaging something. And the 3M tape used is rather expensive to get. You can get it at autoparts stores, but it's $6 per pack, and you'd need 5-6 packs of it to do a whole dash kit. That and it will take you many hours with an X-acto knife to trim and apply the tape. I know because when we do prototyping, we have to apply the tape like that and it's not a fun job.

dont even try to remove it, if you want to sell it, trade dash piecers

it comes off ok on the AC vents and stuff but the center dash it leaves alot of crap and even a heat gun doesnt help very much

This thread is mad old. Dash kit has been removed. You guys were correct, the kit was not reusable. Removal was pretty easy. I scratched up my dash pretty good because I did a sh!tty job.
