AC/Blower Motor Fix

Problem:
Very annoying and loud Ticking/humming/noise coming from underneath or near the glove box area.

After reading about the TSB on this site, I went to the local Nissan dealer and bought:

Fix:
27220-2y910=Blower Motor for $58.50 (Old part#=27220-2y900)
27227-0e002=Blower Motor Cover for $10.68

I removed my glove box in 5 minutes and then replaced the blower motor and mounted the cover on the motor in another 5 minutes. I also cleaned a couple of leaves out. (There is a direct path from the engine compartment to the blower motor and that's how leaves get in.. I could see the hood once I removed the motor)

I am glad to say that the noise is totally gone.. It was the best $70 I ever spent cause that annoyed me to no end..

HTH,
Compton

I had the same problem, and the dealership made it look like my fault. All they did is cleaned out the leaves, but told me they're charging Nissan as if they changed the blower motor, and wanted me to rate them 'excellent' on the survey.

If there is a TSB then why did you spend you own money on this??

A TSB is not a warranty or a recall. It just shows the techs how to correct a known problem. The only way the dealer will usually pay for something is if you are in warranty, or they really, really like you.

AC

My car is out of warranty and to be honest, I would rather pay $70 and do it myself than inconvenience myself for a day and give my car up and have to hassle with Nissan Service

I'm ready for my third motor.. and our pathfinder with the same motor is also ticking AGAIN.. Its the motor design. that new $58 (cheaper than the old one) is supposed to be better I think. I need to just buy one. (I already have the cover from the TSB and previous motor replacement)

Very annoying indeed.. Last time, they really scuffed up my glovebox. I'm the only one that can see it, but it made me mad as hell.. Just sloppy work.. I definately will be buying this one and doing it myself. not with the hassle at the dealer.

I know.. thats what made it so hard to understand why they need the car for a day and messed up the glove box. :/ I took it out and saw it had spun the grease out. And that the motor wasnt servicable. At the time the motor was $100 and I was under the 36K warranty. So, I thought it would be better to get them to do it for free... well, nothing *free* I guess. 3 visits and some scratches later

Now that I'm in the extended warranty and I have a $50 deductible, I'll just buy the new motor and save myself hours by doing it myself.

hmmm...i gotta do mine too. I got approved for it to be done under warranty last march but i never went back to have them do it for some reason... So this is an easy job? Hmm sounds like a good job to do over spring break...thanks for the info.

Steve,

I am certainly no mechanic, and it only took me 15 minutes total to remove glove box, remove and replace motor, install cover, and put glove box back on.. Very easy to do

agreed its as easy as doing the in-cabin air filter.. in fact, that would be a good place to start on instructions to at least get the glove box out if your a noob to the procedure. just go to courtesyparts.com and look at the instructions there.

If you have a sloppy dealer, by all means, this is easy enough to forgo all that headache.

Where did you find the instructions at courtesyparts.com? I did a few searches there and I couldn't find the instructions you are talking about.

Thanks.
