I've seen several posts on certain maximas being faster than others like the 95-96 being faster than the 97-99. Yet the 97-99 had the better se rims and front bumper. Someone please clear it up for me which max I sould look into getting. I have a 95 i30 now that I'm going to give to my little brother. Thanks in advance for any help!! Oh yeah I will be buying a 5spd.

I lean toward the 97se instead of purchasing 96 left-over, because of the reason you stated. The 16" wheels, the front grill, and the steering wheel (much more sportier and comfortable. as for speed i never try a 95-96 so i wouldn't know but i think the difference is very minimal. My opinion only. good luck on your purchase.

get the newest one you can afford so long as it's also in the best shape overall.

95-96 is little faster (.2sec? on 0-60) than 97-99 model i think. There isn't big difference on speed. 97+ has different bumper shape, rim and tail light. But other than that, there's no difference major. Get 98 GXE or SE. If you planning to mod your car, get loaded GXE 5-speed. But if you are not thinking about modding your car. Just get SE.

I have a few ??? about your post, first you said a 95 I30 and they did not come out until 96{model year} so please explain?? Also why would you give your little brother a more expensive/nicer car then what you are considering purchasing??{95-96 max?},I would understand if you were thinking of buying 99-01 max.BTW MT tested a 95 Max and it did 0-60=6.6 and 1/4=15.2 VS MT's 97 Max 0-60=7.1 and 1/4=15.5.

Re: 95 I30=????

Sorry hit the wrong button its a 96 I30. The reason I'm giving the car to my little brother is because its a family type car. I mean when I turned sixteen my parents gave me the car it was their's before. Now that my little brother is sixteen I have to give it to him. Thats just the way my parents planed it. I must now take responsibility and buy ny own car.
