stupid talon TSI.....

Well I'm minding my own buisness on I-95... Third lane 120ish. Pass by a Talon and he thinks I want to race him or something. I step on it anyway b/c I hear him downshift as I go by. I hit probably 130 and I see him GAINING on me fast. Up until this point I thought it was a regular DSM 4 cyl.... WRONG! As I hit about 135 giving it all I've got, He FLYS by me! Must have been doing at least 145, 150 maybe. I shut down b/c I know i have no chance. He keeps going almost rear ending other cars, and weaving thru traffic. I get back in front of him b/c he got stuck behind a truck and he tries passing me on the right in the breakdown lane and almost hit me! **** HEAD!

Ah I had to vent, and yea yea yea I know I was speeding and was wrong but it was a dead highway. We were the only ones on it.

Just watch for these cuz they'll romp ya unless your boosted.

Never ever race someone who is a dangerous moron and definalty shut it down before you even get close to traffic.

I street race and try to as safe as possible. I know it's hard to turn it down when someone is egging you on but you have to for yours and others safety. That guy was obviously a retard, next time slow it down, racing at those speeds is crazy. Get him to slow down with you and make a run when all is clear up to a satisfactory speed, that will tell you enough about who's car is faster.

i raced a tsi the other day coming back from school.
the road was a little moist so the launches were messed up, but i had a 1/2 car lead until 130km/h, which is when i shut it down, and he flew by me after that.
im pretty sure he would have beat me at higher speeds anyways. but i was afraid of getting a ticket and shut it down.

Yeah TSi's are FAST, my friend has one with a 16G turbo and lots of engine work. He usually runs 16psi good for 13s, but when he runs 9-10psi, were dead even...

The problemd is that they are so cheap to tune up that if they race you don't have a chance. The same thing happened to me. It was christmas day and no one was on the road. I happened to come across him and the light turned green i gunned it(got a bad start, not that it mattered) and then I hear a tire screech and the guy flies by me. It didn't look like we were racing.
I thought I could take him because I've raced another turbo'd DSM and I beat him. Not by much but I still won. This wasn't even a race. It made we really want to get a turbo. Unfortunately, I'll probably never have money for that.

Brother- 1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Turbo 5 spd(perfectly maintained, 48,000 miles)

Me- 1995 Nissan Maxima SE 5spd(Perfectly maintained, 112,000 miles)

Dude, no offense (it would be pretty hypocritical for ME to complain about racing) but do the two statements above conflict a little...?

My other car is a 97 Talon Turbo AWD...

about $85 in mods and new plugs...I FEEL real speed.
Luv my Max still...I just pretend that I feel real speed.

Too many minor problems with the engine + squeaks and rattles like a POS. Probably will trade it in next time this year.

After I sell my max I was looking for a 1st gen Talon Tsi, or Eclipse GSX. I actually had one lined up, but my buyer backed out.

What year is your friends TSI, 9-10 psi seems pretty low for a modified motor running a 16g turbo upgrade. My 1990 Eclipse GS-T automatic trans came from the factory running 12-14 psi of boost. I used to play with porsche, mustang and camaro where i easily catch them up at the top end....100+mph

you have to remember, 9-10 psi, on a 16G is more than 9-10psi on a 14G which is stock...Also, his car is probably pushing 40ish more HP from other mods...

its a 90 btw...

1st and 2nd gen eclipse are pos, poorly engineered cars that will let you down many times. I had a 92 turbo a/t 2wd, very fast but you dont feel safe doing more than 100 in one of those...

See, this is why i wanted to get a TSI to start off with, under $4g and with another 2g in mods, people will only see your rear end... The only bad thing is that they're unreliable as heck... The turbos that is... I don't know about the N/A but those are worthless...

its not so much the turboes are unreliable, the car itself is. The car WAS NOT meant to handle anymore boost than stock, and it cant even handle that. My friends Turbo didnt give way until it hit 140K, not to shabby, thats when he rebuilt it and dropped the 16G in it. Still gives him problems, but its not to bad anymore. BTW, hes got over 4K invested not including the price of the car, if you plan on getting one, it better not be your daily driver or you will need to buy an extended membership with Triple A's tow truck service...

they are not really reliable at all. My bro has a 91 talon TSI and it not reliable at all. It is in the shop all the time, and once you get one thing fixed, you have to get another. But when you have it where you can drive it, it is a cool fun car. Way to exsencive to keep up with though.

My friend has one, well he had 2 sold one to one of my other friends (bad second gear sycro) anyway his was an AWD TSI and he has had to rebuild that tranny (even though he has an Evo 3 tranny from Phillipians on its way) and he rebuild the entire engine since no compression on cyl. one. I dunno why he loves that thing so much, me and him wanna see whos faster Nissan SR20 vs 4G63!
