I read that some of you guys remove the badges off the trunk. My personal taste is to have badges such as Maxima, SE. But one thing I don't allow, is any dealer advertising on the car. No stickers, no lisence plate surounds or anything alse. If the dealer wants me to advertise his dealership he can pay me.

None on mine... but there's a dealer in SF (Ellis Brooks) that stick them on the cars no matter what. Sucks...

 

None here either....you can demand that dealer take them off before you take delivery of the car. If you have them though, you can remove them using fishing line or by heating them up with a hair dryer.

 

well, i never ever allow any dealer license plate thingy to stay on any of our cars...including my sister's and my dad's.
last time when i took my dad's Q45 for a service at this dealership, they just put on their dealer license plate frame onto my dad's car's licese plate!!!
i came home and took it out!
if they want their dealer name on our cars, they better pay me!!!!
am i being too self-centered?

When I was at Ellis Brooks, some of their cars in their show room didn't have that stupid badge, so either those cars were from another dealer or they haven't gone through the badging process yet. They should pay people at least $500/month to have that stupid thing on the car. I don't see too many Ellis Brooks badges around anymore...guess they kinda stopped doing it or something.

 

Yeah, when I bought mine it had no badge. I made sure to tell them... DONT put one on when you detail it. The car came with pinstripes too but those are easy to peel off.

As far as the dealer paying for you to have it.. no sh*t if they try and make the car buyer pay an ad fee, why not?

There's a Tamaroff Nissan dealer in the Detroit area that like to put them right above the chrome "M-A-X-I-M-A" badge so that it kinda reads like 'Tamaroff Maxima.' THAT is bad. Off on the side would have been a better choice, but not not smack on center stage. Tacky. I removed the sticker on mine as soon as got home from the dealer.

 

This is too funny, because I did the same thing! Peeled that sucker right off. And the worst thing of all, is that they, well the trading dealer, had taken the liberty to install the freakin' licence plate holder and slap his tag on it! I mean, no big deal for some cars, but if you all don't have them, then you don't realize they have to DRILL into the front fascia! So, now, I have painted those ugly screws with the touch-up paint so at least they match, and sort of blend in. I mean, really, to think I'd want to drive around like a mobile billboard!

 

if its one of those plastic badges...be careful...
i used a hair dryer to get it off...
then it left ALOT of residue...
it was like a foam/glue residue like ive never seen...
i tried a shietload of stuff to get it off and nothing worked...
until i tried gasoline!
i know it sounds a little harsh but it came right off.
just clean it right after then add some wax and you're ok.
cant even tell it was ever on...and i avoided the common scratches associate w/ badge removal.

 

The dealer my dad bought it from had stickers on them. My dad brought the car to work and I noticed the sticker was missing in the next morning. I asked him what happened and he said his manager took it off because he believes there was no need for a dealer to advertise like that. I guess my dad's manager had a problem with the dealer.

 

Where do you live? I live ~1 mile from Tamaroff Nissan (although I bought mine from CarOrder.com (defunct), and my wife's from Bill Cook Nissan).

 

In California, all that the dealers put on are those cheap, usually plastic license plate frames with their name on them. They're easy to remove. What I don't understand is why most people don't bother to remove them. They drive around for years with those sleazy dealer advertisements. On my GLE I could have bought plain frames, but I think the car looks nicer with no frames at all. Anyone agree?

 

Actually, I live in the tri-city area but make frequent road trips down to the area to see family and friends.
