buy cheap tires - if they're worn out, the better.

some light rims would help too

then, get some concrete blocks, some heavy bricks would work too.

find some bleach, spray on fron tires, place blocks/bricks in front of rear tires, pull parking brake, step on gas.

Wow, I guess its never occurred to anyone to pull the E-brake and floor the accelerator. You can make a Hyundaiyay do a stand-still burnout.

 

no the car will still move, dragging the rear tires

clee got it pretty good, i would even brake torque as high as possible, just to get the tires spinning right off the bat, instead of moving the car a bit (over the bricks)

also take off traction control and put the gear in 1

 

traction control!? must be a 99' thing.. right?

 

Burnouts that are not at the track on drag tires are LAME!

They are lame because they accomplish only 3 things: wear out your tires, brakes and tranmission.

Plus they are good way to get the cops interested in whatever you are doing.

2) call the tranny shop and make an appointment
3) order new tires from tire rack
4) call the tire shop and make an appointment
5) pour bleach on tires
6) pull up the E Brake
7) pour bleach under tires
8) let her rip and watch that smoke rise
9) bring car to tranny shop couple months later

 

what 4th gen has a traction control button on an auto?

 

yeah 4th gen's have traction control here in canada...maybe its an option.
i know the auto's have it, but manuals don't.

 

get a 5sped tranny and all you will have to do is pull the e-brake, rev and dump and your smokin

my boy has an auto and he can burn the without any bricks, tighten your e-brake cable.

 

Pull e-brake, put your car in neutral, floor it and throw in in drive when u get to redline, then you better start looking for a new tranny and tires.

 

Why are burnouts bad for brakes and tranny?

 

THe trick on how to do standstill burn out, is NOT DOING ONE AT ALL. Care for some drivetrain damage?

 

because...

1. your transmission is not more than rings and wheels and pumps using fluid to operate (auto)
2. burning out exerts immense amounts of load on it, that produces heat, you risk breaking up seals, wearing out finer parts.
3. same for drivetrain parts. a lot of force being put on them.
4. brakes.. i suppose that would apply to powebraking it prior to a burnout. although i don't see how this applies as damaging.


the thing is, when you floor it and go, thats damaging enough, but in this case, the force and momentum produced has somewhere to go; forward. if you are just burning it at one place you are just loading up you vehicle with more forces then its designed to handle. oh yea ive see a tercel snap and axle n-bombing it trying to show off to a get that, chevy tahoe (ironically the tahoe had enough steel to nbomb it and not break anything, at least that evening) the stuff you see on saturday nights

 

This is the best advise. And the thing about the drivetrain is bullsh*t because I have done this numerous times with 170,000 original miles on the tranny and I am still going strong and it gives off a great burnout and no your tires do not blow out. You get a lot of smoke inside the cabin. The reason why you do a burnout is to get the tiny rocks from between the treads of your tires.

 

The reason one does a burnout is to get one's drag-specific tires up to proper operating temperature. Burnouts on street tires make them go past their proper temp and just get greasy and slippery. At the track I do a quick spin of the tires to get the dirt and rocks off, but it's by no means a burnout. Just a little scratch and that's it.

good point, burn off your treads on ur all season tires, to get the rocks and dirt out so its safer to drive. Treads dont affect drivin at all. Just the pebbles in ur tires.
