switching motor oil question

switching motor oil question

hey, i am going to switch to synthetic soon, i live in the midwest w/ cold winters and also hot summers and my car has 72k miles. i am having trouble deciding between 5w30 or 10w30. which one would you guys recommend? thanks.

5w30 IF you aren't using oil

Stay with 5w30 as Jeff stated. Thicker isn't always better especially for oil pumps.

why is synthetic better?
the manual doesnt say anything about using synthetic ?

I always use synthetic, usually 10w 30 all year long but this year i'm switching to 5w30 for the winter months (chicago)

For conventional oils, 5W-30 winter and 10W-30 summer for where you are.
