Next Level Racing Stage 1 & 2 Box
Next Level Racing Stage 1 & 2 Box
I already have the stage 1 box hooked up to my car with a Weapon R Intake and well my car runs great. better gas milage, Better pick up and the best thing I noticed was I could always spin my tires in 1st gear and chirp them in 2nd but after putting on the box I am able to actually chirp the tires in 3rd gear. Has anyone else heard anything about this or used it. Would like to get somimput on this as I might go to the Stage 2 box.

The installation was very easy and simple to do. I have pics of it installed on the car and will attach them here. I just have it ziptied!!!

Do u have to reset the ecu afterwards? And do u have to cut and splice the factory wires? And i wonder if they would arrive in on time if i order rite now...im goin to the track this saturday. Just curious about the time w/ that box on there.
Cut and Splice
Yes you have to cut the wires but all you have to do is use the connectors they supply you with. Then if you ever want to take it off you just use the connectors to plug the nissan wires back together. HEres the webpage for you to check out what cars and years they have the boxes for. As far as shipping, not sure. You would have to call them and see if you could get overnight shipping. So you want to see how you would do at the track? i would set it up with th e connectors. Then I would take it off, do two runs with it off. The hook it up, of course witht the negative battery cable dissconected so when you have it hooked up the ECU can re program itself then take two more runs and see if theres a difference.

No chip required, this is just a box that adjusts your airflow and basically tricks the system. It makes your MAF sensore believe your getting more air in which makes your engine run better and more effeciently!!! More air= More Speed
I'm really curious about this thing now after hct67 said it works great on his car. It doesn't cost much but i'd still like to know if the dyno shows anything and if there's any long term consequences of having this thing plugged in. What about for regular track use (not drag). Would it be ok to have the stage II one set at ++ ??
hct67 - How long have you had this for now?

If anything, you're probably wasting more gas this way as there's not enough air coming in to burn the extra fuel being pumped into the system.
I could be wrong, but it makes more sense this way.
I don't see how this unit achieves what it claims. Like soundmike says, fooling the car to think there is more air entering than there actually is one thing but when the ECU applies the fuel to match that air, the math just won't add up.
The only way I can see this making sense is if the MAF is regulated and they somehow bypass the regulation. But, I do not know of any such feature/function on or around the MAF.
hct67, would you be kind enough to post in detail, which wires to cut/splice and see if you can open the unit and take some pictues.
Not doubting your experience with it, just that I've played a bit with the electronics and it just doesn't add up. We could prove it out this way, dyno it or take it to the track, before we all run out and buy this.

My guess (and that's all it is) is that it's simply a resistor. It results in a lower voltage being fed back to the ECU from the MAS "fooling" the ECU into thinking greater air flow is the reason for the reduced voltage. I've seen junk like this sell on eBay for anything from $1-$5. Major rip off for a $0.02 part. Putting it in a fancy case with connectors helps "fool" the buyer into thinking he's actually bought something worthwhile. I've not messed with this as I believe it could easily result in poor driveability - and NOT likely going to actually improve mileage or power or torque - it'll just make it run too rich.
I built something similar to this for my '02 Dodge Dakota for under $30. All it does is turn my trucks intake air temperature sensor into an adjustable unit using a resistor and a potentiometer. I can adjust what the ECU reads as the outside air temp from 30 degrees up to 120 degrees. It actually allows me to maximize fuel mileage or power with my current setup (as there aren't many ECU flashes for the "01 and up 4.7L V8 Dakotas).
Well I can take photos of how I hooked it up but I am not going to try and open it up. Its sealed and I really don't want to mess with the seal. I am awaiting a few more things I purchased before i go to the Track and see how it does. Plus I want to take it to get dynoed. What I will do is unplug it and run it at the track and then plug it in and see what the results are. Also thats what i will do when i get it dynoed.
