The Airbag light was flashing in my '98 GLE, so I tried to reset it as described in the "How to" and it was still flashing.

I took it to the dealer and after making me $80 poorer, he tells me the rear passenger seat modulator is out and it will cost me $450 to replace it.

He also claims, that non of the other bags will work if the light is flashing. Is this true?

Do I have much else of a choice other than to scoff up $450 to get it replaced at the dealer?

 

I have had my airbag light just go on and stay on completely, then the ironic part is that i had a minor accident and they did go off. I'm in a 98 also therefore that's a good question that I hope someone could answer. The dealer has tried to rip me off with this as well, but there is no way in hell I would have had the airbags replaced at the dealer. Check a local scrapyard for the part you need, that's where i got my complete set of airbags and modules for cheap, or even sometimes ebay or the .org. Hope this helps.
