Hi guys,

For some reasons I can not search this bulletin board. It keeps telling me that I don't have access.

My 95 Max GXE (100,000 miles) reports 3 problems:

1) Throttle position sensor: Where is this sensor located? How much does it cost, and how easy/hard is it to replace?

2) Knock sensor: Again, where is it? Cost, and installation?

3) Rear Oxygen sensor: Same questions as above.

Someone really ought to re-enable the search feature!

 

1. The TPS is on the firewall side of the throttle body. It is black and has two harness connectors plugged into it. Don't know how much it costs. It is very easy to replace.

2. The KS is on top of the lower intake manifold. It costs about $130-160. It is difficult to replace because of limited accessibility, but it is doable if you have small hands.

3. The rear oxygen sensor is located at, or just behind, the main catalytic converter. Cost is about $85-130. Easy to replace.

Get a Haynes manual. It will answer a lot of questions you might have.

 

9 out of ten times when you replace your knock sensor, the rear heated oxygen sensor code will dissapear.
Also, your TPS is probably just out of adjustment.
