Which HID manufacturer?

I'm looking at Hella, Philips, Bohmen, and McCulloch. Philips is the most expensive at about $500, the Hellas are about $449, the Bohmen HIDs are $409, and finally the McCulloch's are for sale for $309. Which is best for 4000k-5000k? I want to wait for indigo but Gawd knows when he's moving to Mexico to open his factory...

Give me some info about your opinions and experiences! Thanks.

Phillips/Hella are pretty much the same thing in terms of quality, everything else is a waste of $

I agree... Phillips and Hella are both good. I have had personal experience with Hella - nothing but good things to say about them. But I am sure that Phillips is equivalent.

Um...i just ordered 6k hid with ballasts and everything for 250 w/2y warranty.
I think he's in the group deal, XbriteHID. Nothing but good things about this guy and his product. He sells HID's to all of NYCMAXIMAS.ORG members such as myself. Also it really doesn't matter if it's 4,6,8,10,12k it's still gonna be $250. He also has different types of lights and for many different vehicles. I'd try him before i throw away 500 for 4k....my 2 cents.

P.S. search for him in the groupdeals as XbriteHID or go to NYCMAXIMA.ORG and check out his deals.

Wow I wish I'd known about that guy and this website last yr Feb of 05 when I brought my HIDs but $250 is a steal especially for any set up.

Philips doesn't make 8000K bulbs.

You can NOT compare Philips or Hella to any cheap Korean made hid Kit.

I’ve owned a cheap HID Kit. they don’t last. 1-2 years average. Mine lasted 2-1/2 years. But started showing problems after the first year.

Keep looking you can get a Philips kit for less then $500.

ive had a korean k2 kit but it did come w/ phillips ballasts. the bulbs were something to yet be desired as they lasted 2 years before burnout. but the ballasts are still working. ive bought phillips rebased bulbs and those lasted on my matrix since 2002. btw: ive had my ballasts since 2001 on a camry.

so nothing but praise for phillips for me

hella and philips are pretty much hand in hand, they cost a little more but you're getting the real deal. if you can get your hands on an oem set up that's also good. philips (one "L" ;-)) is the #1 manufacturer for OEM bulbs that factories use. the 4300k philips kit is technically burning @ 4100k, and the 6000k is at 5800k. anything over that temperature is bull****, since no bulbs are produced after that level (because the amount of usable light decreases as the kelvin goes up) -the 4300k is designed to imitate sunlight, the 6000k is the next best thing with a little bit of style, factories utalize both of these (mostly the 4300k). anything over that they tint the bulbs or the filament inside the bulb to give off a ''blue'' or ''purple'' appearance, and people actually pay more for that bs! (stupid american concept where the more it costs the better it is) the blue hue you see from cars with HID's actually comes from the projector/housing the bulbs sit in... for more info check out HID university @ www.hidplanet.com and http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html are good resources.
