1) Can anyone other than a Nissan Dealership(myself, independent mechanic, etc.) do maintance work on my Maxima(i.e. oil changes) without voiding the warranty? I have not found anything in writing that says it would NOT void the warranty. If anybody has, please let me know where it says so.

The reason I do not like to take my car to the dealer for service is because I do not trust anybody who works there. (They steal/switch from your car for/to their cars).

If I can change the oil myself WITHOUT voiding the warranty.
2) What's the best way to change the oil filter? Turn the wheels left or right?

I just read a post of when to put synthetic oil into the engine(2nd, 3rd oil change), well it will probably make a difference as some of you may have mentioned. So my thrid question is,
3) What if you put 3 quarts of regular mineral oil and fill up the remaining 1-1.5 quarts with synthetic oil of the same viscosity (10W30)?
In my opinion this is adequate enough compared to filling up completely with synthetic oil.

As long as you have service records from qualified shops, the warranty cannot be voided. Now, if you do the oil change yourself, the dealer can say you didn't do any maintenance because you will have no records for that. But I've never heard of that happening though.

2) doesn't matter, just get down there and turn it... your wheel won't effect anything. Guessing this is the first time you've done work ont he car?

3) Why would you do such a thing? Might as well get DuraBlend or something like that. But no it's not "adequate enough compared to filing up completely with synthetic oil". If it's cost that you are worried about, then don't use synthetic. If it's something else you are trying to accomplish then *maybe*. Yeah synthetics and dyno oil are supposed to be compatible... but rmemeber the oils was not forumlated with mixing in mind. DuraBlend and such animal is. BTW use 5W30.
