Right Front Wheel turning in Neutral!

95 GXE, Manual transmission.

I had both front wheels jacked up to replace the oil pressure switch. After replacing the switch, I turned on the engine to check for leak. At this time, both front wheels were still in the air. Even in neutral, the passenger side wheel is turning at about 5 revolutions per minute. The force exerted on the wheel is relatively weak, as I can stop it with my hand, but as soon as I removed my hand, it started turning again! (The driver side wheel never moved)

What causes the right wheel to turn? What is the fix?

Thanks guys,
Sam

There is no fix. There will be some transmission of torque when the clutch is engaged- I believe this is to circulate transmission fluid. I may be wrong about that.

You see this in almost every car.

If you floor the clutch and you still have this happening then there might be something wrong.

What is happening is with the clutch engaged in neutral the main shaft is spinning at engine speed and the gears attached to it are churning the relatively thick gear oil and the other gears are turned by this moving oil causing the wheel to turn.

Thanks guys. But why only the right wheel? Why isn't the torque transferred to the left as well?

its going to turn which ever one has the least resistance, unless you have a limited slip diff.
