Replacing headlamp assy.
Replacing headlamp assy.
So, I have a crack in the lens, and am about to replace it with one from a junkyard.
I see two plastic clips, one philips screw on top, and another philips behind the case toward the center. Are there any others?
I'm asking this rather simple question because last time I tried to do it on another car (actually it was a thermostat on that car), a very rare size torx screw driver was needed. I couldn't find it in any local store and ended up taking it to a shop because I couldn't wait for the online order in the middle of the winter. (Wife was driving with no heat in 20 below weather.)
For this one, I wanna make sure I have enough time to buy anything online before the end of the month for inspection.
TIA.

Are you asking how to take the whole headlight out of the car? I guess I'm not sure if you have to take the whole thing out or not to do that, but if you are just wondering how to take the headlight out, PM me and I'll let you know.

it's easy, you'll need a 10mm socket and a phillips screwdriver
you first need to remove the corner light (one screw at the top and then it pops out of a ball socket adn then slides forward - check my how-to page for rewiring and it'll show you a couple pics)
then you will see 2 large 10mm bolts/screws (#3 phillips head, but I'd recommend using a socket). Remove those and also there are 2 10mm nuts on the backside of the headlight bracket (both close to the radiator, lower one is hard to see). You can then start to remove the headlight and its bracket. The grille will be attached, but it just has a couple clips you need to push in to remove it.
When you have it out of the car, you'll see a couple adjustment screws that hold the headlight to the bracket. Easy peasy.

I PM'd you back, but forgot about the grill clips, I had mine off already when I did it. Hey, I have the same pea-sized hole in my headlight, so if you want to send me your other one, I'll send you mine with the pea sized hole so you will have matching headlights with holes in them
Thanks guys. I wouldn've have tried to take the corner light out on my first attempt.
By the way, is it easier to take out just the lense alone, instead of replacing the whole assembly? Probably not, since I have to take the assembly out anyhow...
I guess I just need to spend time looking at it. Just picked up the whole case at a junkyard yesterday for $50. It's more than $200 at a dealer. Lense alone is $130. Geez....
