Airbag Light is now flashing

Started the car today and the airbag light was flashing. I tried resetting it using the instructions in the FAQ's but it's still flashing. Has anyone had or have the same problem and if so, what was the problem. I don't know if it matters but for the past 5 weeks I've only occasionally driven the car because I broke my leg (one good thing about an auto trans). This just sounds like I'm headed for another dealer rip...Help!

I had to do the reset twice. It didn't work the first time. Try doing it again. If it doesn't work you may be stuck going to the dealer. Good luck!

Same problem here, but no side airbags. Seems like there is a new post like this every few days, its too bad they are so expensive to fix.

Call 1-800-Nissan1 and let them know you think its crap that you have to pay for an airbag even though it has never deployed....have them document it cause when i called the lady said they have never heard of any problems.....the more ppl that call the more nissan is gonna realize how big of a prob it really is...............

You guys too? Same thing happened about 5 months ago, the light came on, tried to resetting, didn't work. Took it to the dealer, and they said the passenger side airbag was faulty, which would require $500 to fix. They said the airbag wouldn't deploy on its own, like if I went over a hard bump, so I didn't bother to get it fixed.

Same line my dealer used but said it wasn't common?? Well I say if it is faulty then nissan should pay the bill....everyone that has had this problem needs to call and complain to a manager at nissan cause who's to say that this won't happen again after we spent the $500......1-800-Nissan1

MINE TOO! :-)

My came on about a year ago, I did the check and found it to be the right passenger airbag. I just "wiggled" side airbag wire & connector(by removing the back finishing on the passenger seat) and then did the airbag diagnostic again and cleared it. Its been good since.

And the dealer thing....my warranty is already over :-(

(after warranty is usually when things start flashing bad signs at me. Nissan's, as well as others, Finance & Marketing team timed pretty well....)

I will help put my bit in too if head count is needed for a recall, but Good luck trying to get Nissan to do that.

it took me about 7 times to actually successfully reset it... it comes back once in a while.

Just in case some of you dont know this is covered under power train warranty 5yr 60k i had my passenger side airbag control module replaced i believe they cover that and the computer for the air bags and i looked up how much the control module cost is at nissanparts.cc and its like $279 list price and like $200 retail i dont see how it could cost another 2 or 300 ( $500total) to fix this even if its not under warranty. the first guy i talked to was a jerk and tried telling me it wasnt covered and he never heard of that ( its under powertrain ), i told him its in my manual and im not leaving it here if it aint covered . they looked it up on there computer and low and below it was covered that shut his mouth real quick

YES!!!!!!! I GOT THE LIGHT TO GO OFF...prolly just temporary but im happy....I think what needs to be clearified is that after pressing the button 5 times then move your key from position 3 (on) back between 0 (lock) and 2 (ACC) ..... I was putting it in lock afterwards.....in my car there is no #1 specified on the ignition switch.

Here are the steps....everyone go give it another try:

1. Open door and turn key to position 3 (on) and press the button on pillar B 5 times or more within 7 seconds.

2. After you stop pushing the button give it a sec and then move your key between lock and ACC.

3. Close door and then move key back to lock....then start your engine...this should fix the problem.

Like I said i was confused and thought by OFF they meant to the LOCK position but you actually want to be between off and ACC.....

GO TRY IT =)

I know this is prolly just temporary but I have actually made a habit of not looking at my dash cause that light annoys the **** outta me....o well...prob solved for now ...............

Alright, I tried again, still flashing, tried again and again about 5 times trying different key positions, still flashing. Finally instead of 5 or 6 times pushing the DDS quickly I pushed it 8 or 9 times quickly and then turned key off...that worked! Thanks again y'all for the replies.

Ok, I just went out and tried this, instead of hitting the button 5 times, I just kept hitting it until 7 seconds. AND IT WORKED!
Sweet, now I don't have to see the light blinking from the corner of my eye at night.

I remember when I showed the dealer, they diagnosed it and they made the light stop flashing, but they still told me the airbag module was faulty. A week probably went by, and then one day when the car was shut off, my brother slammed the passenger side door really hard, next time I turned it on, the light came back.
So this might just be a temporary fix

Thanks again!

Mods should update that link on the HOW TO page cause not only do you have to hit it more then 5 times but that whole OFF position seemed to cause confusion....
