89 Maxima GXE Audio question

I have an 89 mixima with bose speakers. When I purchased the car it had a kenwood deck and the front speakers didn't work but make a high whine when the car starts. One of the rear speakers will cut in and out on accasion but at least one will almost always work. I'm assuming that the amps are still hooked up to the speakers causing the amps to die. I'm planning on replacing the speakers but have a question. Besides bypassing the amps when installing the new speakers. Do I need to rewire anything with the deck. i went into an audio place and they said they would need to rewire the deck as well which doesn't make sense. Another question. I believe there is an amp hooked up to each of the rear speakers. what about the front. I heard there is only one for both speakers. If so where's it at. Any info would be appreciated.

YOu have four amps. One to each speaker. You have two choices too. You can either rewire all the speakers from the HU directly bypassing all of the stock wiring. Or you can do what I did which was bypass the amps and go on with your life. go to www.geocities.com/craigbrace to find out how to do this.

Thanks for the reply. Do I have to customize to fit the 4 x 6's. I was told that the 4 x 6 would fit in the original speaker house.

You need the non-bose speaker pods to fit the 4x6
