depends on what your looking for but i pick RE just because they are bullet proof and a much smaller brand and priced better than jl. but no doubt jl makes quality stuff... you jusy pay for it.

Both are excellent subs with great reputations. Since Destijl Engineering (the OEM side of RE) licenses XBL^2 technology from Adire, I'd say RE. Getting down to comparing specific lines by each manufacturer will make this even more difficult.

Any particular lines of each you're wondering about? The W7 compares pretty well with the XXX line. I'm a huge fan of all of JL's products, just not the fact that you have to pay full price in order to enjoy the benefits of company support. If I had money to waste, I'd definitely go with JL. If I were frugal, and I am, I would probably go with RE [though Adire is worth looking at, too].

You have to call RE. They will check to see if there is a dealer in your area. If there is, you will be asked to purchase from him. If not, then you get the factory direct price from RE.
