When I turn on the AC at idle, everything is fine. When I tap the RPMs up to just over 1000, the AC starts squeaking from the engine compartment, as if I had a loose fan belt. Is there a way to check the pulley on the AC, or is it probably the compressor going out? I don't have a warranty on the car anymore, so I'd rather fix it myself. The AC unit works as expected with no problems, other than the noise. I can live with it, but was wondering if anyone else has/had the same problem?
