Split Second Belt Squeal Upon Start-Up

There is a split-second squeal coming from the serpentine belt most everytime that I start my Max. No other noise what so ever though. Seems to be coming from the pulley directley under that adjustment bolt thingy. Anything I can do about it? Thanks.

I had the same problem with mine, adjust the tension on the belt and all should be good. You should just have to loosen it a little bit. check your haynes manual (or other) for the proper amount of belt deflection.
Hope that helps
take care.

what year is your car and what mileage? It could still have original belts and may need replacing.

Hmm... that's what I thought. A loose belt is going to make that noise - a belt that is on too tight will just wear earlier.

1. loosen idler pulley bolt
2. tighten belt tensioner (appropriately)
3. tighten idler pulley bolt
