Something's wrong

I got a 96 factory manual SE. Recently when ive been coming of a gear and going into neutral, the RPMs fall to around 300-400, sometimes even the little red oil light comes on dim and the go bounce back to the normal 600-700 in a second and everything is fine. This happens everytimes i get off a gear and go into neutral, after a second it goes back to 600 and stays there like nothing happend.

In front of the TB plate, there is a little hole that allows air into the engine while the throttle is 100% closed. That might be clogged a bit. Or your idle air control valve is sticking from accumulated carbon etc.

I had a faulty oil filter that caused my oil light to come on on an old car at low rpms. Not sure how it did this but after I changed the filter the light never came on again.

You mean you had a bad filter and replacing it with a new one got rid of the proble? Well I'll be damned.

Certified Beast, look at your intake. There should be 3 hoses coming off the mid-pipe(or resonator if still stock). 1 on the left gping to the valve cover and 2 on the right, 1 small one and one big one. Follow the big one to the IACV, the thing with 4 colored connectors. That's what you need to take off and clean. There are 3 bolts holding it in and another smaller bolt you'll need to take off in order to remove the IACV completely.
