Yet another...Replacing stock Bose HU Question

I adopted my wife's 99 Max and it has the stock BOSE system. I've been talking to car shops and one said it's safe to keep the stock speakers, but will need the adapter ($60) and a new chassis to fill in the hole ($15).
The other shop said the same thing, however, I should really replace the speakers while I'm at it because there is a "high possibility" that the speakers will blow. He said I can get the Alpine CDA-9827 (which I'm opting for) along with some speakers (I forgot the brand) out the door for about $600.
Any opinions on the best way to go and if the 2nd shop is saying this to make me buy more from him or if he's telling the truth?
Is the Alpine along with the stock speakers going to sound good?

Thanks in advance...

Get a headunit on ebay for like 150, the alpine one that is and get speakers on there too. If you use the stock speakers with the adapter it will be ok but might as well replace the speaker. if you go without the adapter and use stock speakers it will sound off due to the bose speakers are meant to run at 1 ohms

just shell out the extra, and get all new stuff. save your self a headache down the road

Please dont spend money on that converter its a waste of time and money, you dont need a converter to put a aftermarket headunit in your car.
