I was driving on saturday night when i pulled up next to a Daytona Edition Grand Prix, pretty sure it was a GTP. Well the guy was with 3 of his friends and i also had three others in the car. We were going about 40 and he looked over at my and nailed it, i then took off after him and pulled on him until i had about one car lenght. Later down the road he came up next to me again and this time we raced from around 50 to over 120 and i had about two car lenghts on him when i turned the over drive on. I was suprised i won because my car is a 99 auto w/ just a performance muffler.

It wouldn't happen to be one of those Interstate Battery cars would it? I drove one they had souped up to be a pace car and that's when I fell in love with the Grand Prix. I stuck with the Maxima because they have a 5-speed which the Grand Prix doesn't have and the fact that I'm a Nissan freak.

GTP?

For you do beat that car, it takes a very bad driver in the GTP, but most likely something was severly wrong on that car. Like the super wasn't functioning. Its a good kill but don't brag. Go hunt for another GTP and race it. You will see what I mean.

just one question JayMax.....how do you drive an AUTOMATIC grand prix "bad" from 50-120? All you have to do is floor it. A monkey could do it. Also, if you've ever driven a GTP, you'd know that they are very dissapointing cars UP TOP for the 240 hp they produce. I know for a fact that I've pulled HARD on several GTPs...and yes you can say that's cuz I have a modded 5-speed, but it's VERY believable that he beat that GTP from 50-120.

Its possible the GTP had sand bags in the trunk. There is no way a auto max's down shift can keep up with the GTP's at 40mph. Even if the performance shifter is off. I used to own one and raced many.

He never said that he instantly jumped on the GTP...if you read his post he had to catch up. We're not talking about downshifting, were talking about 2nd and 3rd gear acceleration. I highly doubt the GTP had sandbags...but think whatever you want. I'll just be quiet now.

Yes I believe they are, thats so janky. That's an American car for you though. Oh and I will believe that he won the race.

When I was racing GTPs this weekend they were doing low 14s on bad runs... I was doing 15.3s so I see no way you could win unless it was not a supercharged one. (i.e. no GTP)

GTP's are weak from a roll, about a month ago i was traveling down the same road in my dad's 330i sport when i pulled up next to a GTP coupe. We were going about 35 and he hit it then I hit it and i instantly pulled 2-3 cars lenghts. I have no respect for these cars because of their lack of upper end power. I know for a fact for a fact the GTPs i raced both times were nailing it.
