Mine started leaking after a year -- sent it to ASP, had the collar machined on, and no more leaks! As for a drop in alternator current, I don't run a big system at all so I have seen no ill effects in that regard.

"no message". commonly used on forums like www.z31.com so that they don't look at it and find that there is no message. there are seperate pages for the individual replies unlike having all of the replies on the same page like it is here.

Sure do. Unorthodox Racing makes them. not cheap. A friend of mine is selling one for $150, shipped. That's pretty cheap compared to new price. kalebb_at_gmail.com

is it possible to buy a metal collar to machine onto the pulley yourself? ....I ordered a pulley for my car, and its already on the way...never thought about getting a metal colar on it.....is there anyway i can take the pulley once i get it and have a local shop make and machine on a collar?

I wouldn't trust anybody but ASP to "fix" it, personally. I suppose a competent machine shop could do the work, but since you and I don't know exactly what ASP does, I doubt a machine shop could do a good job compared to ASP. They do it for free, just exercise some patience.

any competent machine shop will easily be able to put that ring on it, but they'll want money. honestly, just put the pulley on your car and see what happens. replace the front main seal when you install it. If you have problems, then pull it off and send it for repair- just make sure you keep your stock pulley and belts.

I can guarantee you will have problems. I had mine one for less than a year and I saw a wear line in the aluminum develope. I will be sending mine back shortly. I didn't see a leak yet but I know it's coming if I let it be

what can i be looking at for a price on the ring and possibly labor charge? also....ive had the front timing cover off my car when i got it...and the front seals got replace. my old pulley leaks right now, so why i got a new one.....since i just replace my front seals will i really need to do it again with the pulley? or is the front main seal the round donut thing that goes on the crank?

If the seal is new, don't worry about it. But if a machine shop has to install a new sleeve, expect to pay for at least 1 hour of labor. Now that's about $60. Still want to hire someone to do it vs just sending it back?

id rather go pay that than have to wait for me to send it and get it back...plus id have to pay shipping to asp. Will most machine shops know what im talking about if i say, " hey, can you put a sleeve on my pulley?" and will they know what size it needs to be and everything...(first time hearing about a sleeve on a pulley, but it sounds important) Thanks again for the help

Shipping back and forth even if you used express/2nd day would only be like $20 or so. Matt got his done in about 20 min while he waited. But it's of course up to you.

IIRC it was a CM or two up from the base of the pulley (non belt side). I think the seal causes it or something, really I dont understand it. It wasn't bad but it still was way worse than I expected.

I'm almost 100% sure that's an ASP pulley. Same price as ASP's site and it looks the same.

look at the part number on that one you linked to.

guys, the problem isn't a bad design or anything, it's just the fact aluminum is a very soft metal. when your engine is turning several thousand RPM and you have something rubbing against a piece of aluminum, it WILL wear. usually it doesn't leak, but in some cases it can.

was just thinking...would it be possible to just weld on like a steel plate ring or something where the rubbing occurs? sort of make your own sleeve? like a big donut washer or soemthing? i dnot know, just a thought

nope... you'd have to have a machine shop do it.... unless you had a lathe in your garage. I sure know I'd have a lot more cool parts on hand if that were the case!
