Shaving Bump Stops? (Eibach/Tokico)
I made the mistake of not replacing my stock struts when I had the Eibach springs installed. That was probably the stupidest thing I ever did, I hated the ride. My stock struts and aftermarket springs caused my car to handle worse than completely stock. It felt unstable at high speeds and was a complete handling disaster.
Just installed Tokico illuminas. The Tokico/Eibach combo is awesome - I love it. Very, very stable. (not say there isn't a better combo out there) I am pissed that I did not install these sooner... Lesson learned.
Question...
I read something a while back that talked about replacing the bump stops or shaving them. What is the point of this? What should I replace them with or how much should I shave off?
Cheers!

cutting the bump stops allows another 1/2" of shock travel. it does nothing more to the ride than to let the car drop lower before the suspension bottoms out.
I would recommend NOT cutting the bumpstops if you have adjustable struts. there's too many things that will break if/when you bottom it out. one hard hit on my Konis will ruin them, and it's not covered under warranty. (AMHIK
