HID Theft Deterrent Kit form Courtesy Nissan

Ladies and gentlemen,

Today I called Courtesy Nissan to check on the order I placed in AUGUST for the HID theft deterrent kit. They have been telling me for months that it is on back order. In speaking to the customer service rep, he asked "Are they still stealing those lights up in NY?" ]btw im fron nyc[ I told him yes and everyone is annoyed that the HIDs have to be in the back of their mind all the time. He was surprised to hear about the problem. He told me there are many orders in the northeast for these kits and they have been on backorder since early in the summer. He was annoyed that I've been waiting for so long so he todl me he would find out whats going on. When he got back to me I was informed that Nissan has not been supplying them with these kits. Also, it is not know if they will continue to manufacture these kits. I was annoyed and so was the attendant. I want the kit, if you do too please call and let them know you are waiting for it and/or want it.

sorry for the longass story

No buddy. This is a blessing in disguise. You do NOT want the data dots/kit installed on your car. Because:

A) The thieves will still get the lights/ballast/items
B) It doesn't prevent them from getting the items, just slows them down
C) They will try to PRY them out with a crow bar or something equal and they WILL(!) damage your car's hood and fenders.

Let the thieves take the HIDs clean and easy. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about. They only do more harm than good. You don't want to see the shape my uncle's 02 GLE is in right now after he had his kit installed. Insure the HIDs if they aren't insured and pay an additional $20 for them every month. Or if you still have the factory warranty, Nissan should cover it. I'm certain that both times my uncle's GLE was hit he had Nissan take care of it. It was a dealership in Brooklyn, right off of the Coney Island exit on the Belt. Name slips my mind.

Data Dot brackets prevent ballast from being stolen. headlamp is no good at that point and all thats left is a bulb and internal starter.
I've installed several data dot kits, and I'm sure Staten Island Nissan has Data Dots in stock.

But do the thieves know this? Probably won't stop them from hosing up your car.. they might get burned later on, but that sure doesn't matter after the fact.

I don't know what kind of warranty your uncle has but when does a Nissan warranty cover theft or vandalism???

The theft kit you're talking about from Courtesy is not the Data Dots kit. It's crap and I would take your name off the backorder list and go to your local Nissan to have the Data Dots done for free.

Thanks for the advice guys, im going to call and cancel....
Insurance??? you can insure your headlights? or should i just add theft to my insurance policy? and how is headlight theft covered under warranty... no dealer would be happy about replacing those lights for free
