What are some symptons of Hydrolocking?

Hey guys i'm in a situation where I need particular details on what happens when a CAI sucks water into the engine. Are there noises? etc....

thanks

Noises..... well sometimes a big bang as your engine busts apart. Usually it just stops rotating. Hydro-LOCK. Water doesn't compress, so if a cylinder fills up with water on the compression stroke, it basically stops the piston dead in it's track. The force usually does a number on internal engine components and renders your motor frozen.

There's one tell-tale sign...if your car starts it's NOT locked.

You probably got water in some electronics. Open the hood, let it dry, try again.

hopefully you wont have to worry about it in the future, but if its does drink up some water you'll know if its hydro locked, when it just wont start period or some goes BOOM when it dead.

Did something happed to make you think you had hydro lock? was it from these past few days when it was raining crazy here?

yeh. I had this big ordeal with Meineke where I thought something was seriously wrong with my car because of something they did. They denied it and said my car probably sucked up a bunch of water through the CAI. I doubted it but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Just look for about 1.5 liters of your engine in your rearview mirror. That's a sure sign.

Wouldn't checking the CAI filter for moisture be a good starting point?
