are light bulb upgrades mostly cosmetic, or is visibility really inhanced? I was thinking about getting the PIAA super white platniums, does anyone else have them? thanks

I have them.

The Super Whites make a LITTLE more light than stock, but are mostly for the WHITER light they produce.

The Super Plasmas make about the SAME amount of light as stock, but are mostly for looks and produce a purple/pink light.

I like the Super Whites, but my next pair of bulbs will be the Super Plasmas. Supposedly, the PIAA bulbs have a 3-month life, so you might get to try a few pairs if you can afford it.

HID's kits produce A LOT more light than stock and range from $500-1300+ and only have one setting.

to get the lowdown on lighting...

check this site out. it's perhaps the most comprehensive place to find out about this stuff.

PIAAs seem ok for me. I guess it depends on how you use them. I drive 80% at night so the PIAAs had lasted me for at least a year I had them. Now I use HID. works great. But I have to figure out how to stop the glare.

even though PIAA lights look pretty...but I think the visibility is lower compared with stock lights....I need my fog light to see now...especially during raining day.

btw, I have super plasma.

Doesn't it suck to be driving in the rain at night in a not-so-bright area? I know I don't like it.

Funny that this link contradicts PIAA and others, when they actually sell and compete against that manufacturer with the same products. As with most things in life, you get what you pay for!!!! I waiting for the new Xtreme White's ....try www.autobulbdepot.com for a discount.

Mine is the super white. It IS brighter. More "white" than stock. I can see more, but that also makes it harder for my eyes to see dark areas. HID is same problem. Its much brighter, but makes it harder to see in the dark.
