buying 7000k HIDs, please help me before I screw up :(

I am soooo confused. Please help answer this, I did not see it anywhere in the stickies.

I'm definitely in the market for HID's. I want only a plug-n-play kit. I'm thinking of ordering from the GD still going on here: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....7&page=1&pp=30

I would like to purchase the 9004 7000k kit, which is $275.00 shipped. The HID's are HELIOS. Any opinions? How are they quality wise?

I'm looking to achieve this very bmw M3 or Audi S4 look-alike bluish color. I know these cars use projectors etc., but you get the point.

Now, someone in the thread above stated that the kit is plug-n-play and took 25 mins to install. So, if I get the 9004 7000k kit, what exactly must I modify? Must I still splice wires etc.? I'm really lost when it comes to this entire harness kit thing. I have no clue about any of that. I hope it's not too difficult. Also, I heard that the harness connects straight to the battery, or not?

No the higher you go the more color intense it gets. 12k is like pinkish purple. I have more of a blueish purple light. An acura tl has 4500k hids. You want something like 5k. If you do not aim them they will point to high and blind everyone. You must line your can about 15 feet away from a wall and aim your lights down. Then drive around and see if its what you like. Here are some pics

Closest to BMW look without projectors is to get 6000K and Phillips Ballasts/Bulbs, but I seen pics of umitza's kit and they are just as good or better IMO than the pics I've seen of Phillips without Projectors. Also, you wont lose Hi-Beam if you get the H4 Hi/Lo's.

If you don't want to screw up, don't buy them. Anything over like 4.5k has lower light output. The higher the number after 4.2k-4.5k the "weaker" the lights are.

make sure to buy from umnitza not that maximabest lamer. He reminds me of someone else that used to sell lighting on the boards. Also looks like he made the SN maxima80 and tried to make him self look better. Easy to spot as they both have some pretty weak english skills.

maximabest = indigomax
The guy who sold some headlights with HID projectors retrofitted to a member on the org.... he stuck a projector from a right-hand drive vehicle into the driver side headlight housing

4300k is stock on lexus and bimmers. the projectors are what gie it that blue tinge. anything above 6000k wont yield that high lumens of light. 8000k doesnt yield that much more than highbeam halogens, maybe a few hudnred lumens at most. the most aesthetically pleasing and high perofrmanec would be the 4300-4500k lights from the research ive done. i bought 5000k lights because i cant justfiy spending so much more to get 4300-4500.

personally,i owuldnt even bother with umntiza, he screwed up sqards order and sqard wound up paying $25 to ship back and forth. screwed my order too, couldnt have been more clear int he paypal instructions i gave him. also talked to him over AIM and he assured me the screwups were a thing of the past. he sent me the wrong kit, i didnt get good vibes from him when he claimed someone was a "scammer" when they questioned fitment of his product. i didnt bother to bring it up so i just ektp the kit and asked him to refund me the difference. i wouldve jsut bought from maximabest at least i'd be ready for him to screw up the order.

so seriously, try someone else. because i dont support that seller.

^^Exactly. I wanted exactly what the Bimmers have... Bright output, nice color, flat cutoff line, and do not blur oncoming traffic. What did I do? Get some E46 Projectors and their stock 4100k hid kit. Retrofit here I come.

Flat cut-off line? Isn't the line SUPPOSED to look like a Z? Lower on the oncoming traffic side and a bit higher on the passanger side to light up road signs.

8000 suck at light out put 7000's will not be the best either go 6000 or lower for your wants in color. 7000 will start to look like a blue hyper****e bulb.

a plug and play kit you do not have to splice wires of anything at it is call. you plug it in and you play with it"

armani listen to the ones that say dont get the 6000 + K

it not worth it and your light output would be worse than your stock headlights

get a 4300-4500 K hid kit if you really want to go that route.

but in all honesty get an HID retrofit it jes well worth it and youll have the most use out of the HID lighting.. retrofits can be done at www.hidretro.com

without the retrofit youll just be shooting light everywhere pissin off alot of drivers and asking a ton of attention from cops.

Umm not to sound like an ***, but my stock 9004 lights sucked. I couldnt really see much. I have 7000k The light output is way better than stock. You guys are really bluffing about this light output. My lights are brighter than my friend QX4 lights. On the road I pratically shine everything. They are very bright you cant really look into them. You should all try upgrading your harness like I did. Let the guy pick what he wants and what looks good. Obivously Hids are going to be better than stock.

I'm pretty much leaning towards the 6000 kit now. I'm having a hard time finding 9004 phillips 6000 kit.

??

I'd have to agree with SMX on this one. So sick of people "informing" plug-n-play HID buyers about the light output. Some people ARE very aware of these facts. Did it ever cross ones mind that people are buying the HIDs for the looks? I highy doubt that a lot of people who see BMW projector HIDs know the detailed facts about light intensity/output...could it possibly be that they want these options because of cosmetic purposes? BINGO. If people want to buy 26k HIDs, they should be able to without hearing about the intricate workings of a headlight.
