removal of stock intake

So i got this injen intake and im already to put it in..but i gotta get the stock one out first. So i get the filter off... then the MAF(the thing that attaches to the filter..right?) and then i go to take the hose off that is running from the front of my hood under my battery into where the filter was. I couldn't get the ****er off! I ran outta time so i put the stock one back on. Do i need to take the battery off so that i can get that bolt out? If not what do i need to do? You ugys are geniouses i know you will be able to help me out so thanks in advance!
