Why do my springs make noises?
Why do my springs make noises?
I have had my H&R springs (stock shocks) on for quiet some time now and I have had noises in my suspension ever since. It bothers me to hear the noise it is like it is cheap or something. I thought that after a month or so the noise would go away because the springs needed to be broken in. but i guess not. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I have heard of wraping the springs but i dont think that will prevent the noise.
well h+rs shouldnt make squeaking noises because the coils dont touch when bottoming out. maybe the spring isnt rested properly on the strut? the spring is probably digging the bottom of the strut area where the spring rests
I had the same problem with my Eibachs on the right rear corner. I had some clunking noise that would come and go. When I swapped them out for the CMS springs I bought some wrap from the electrical dept of Home Depot before putting them on. It works wonders because it prevents some of the coils from rubbing against each other. In the pic below you can see how close the upper coils of the Eibach on the right were when compressed by the color of the dirt.

Did you ever replace your mounts and/or bearings?

Springs tend to make noise if there not seated (installed) correctly.
The top spring perch on the front of your car is clocked, meaning it only goes on correctly in one direction. I find quite a few DIY suspension jobs that are not assembled correctly up front. The word OUT on the upper perch is supposed to face outwards or be in line with the lower strut mounting flange. I can't tell you how many times I find that part not lined up correctly which causes the spring to sit unevenly and of course make noise. Another thing to watch for is the upper coil must sit very evenly into the rubber grommet.

I have never replaced my mounts. I wasnt sure if that would cause me to have the noise. Its weird because I have the "creeking" noise in the back and i have the "clunk" noise in the front (drivers side i suppose)
So what you are saying is that my springs may not be sitting correct? And or i may need to replace my mounts?

my struts will make noises like that? i thought it would just bounce a lot if my struts were blown? they cant be blown because they are making the same noises as they did when i put them on..
